For the record, this is straight out of left field. I knew something was in the works but never imagined this. I hope the Institute advertises the heck out of this one because attendance might be an issue with some students off campus by then - although the following two days are the last two days of final exams.

Ms. Ena has her first assignment. :D

What'll she gets a look at her marketing budget.... :D

I'm sure they'll give her something workable, but it'll definitely be the shot in the arm that the capital district needs. Heck, when Coach Appert rolled into town, I think that was the first time I had heard ads for RPI hockey games on 810 AM. Getting Time Warner to show up also helps, as they not only broadcast the game in the area, but across the state; there's some decent advertising, even if it isn't your team being broadcast, because someone might say, "Oh, playing that team will be a good game, I might go watch it at HFH."

They both graduated from Denver.

Back in the old days (1980's) WGY 810 actually used to broadcast the games-I was able to occassionally listen even as far away as down here in NJ. The games were also broadcast on another station up around 1450 AM (or 1440) but that signal was far weaker. RPI used to get pretty good coverage on those 2 stations way back then.:)

Does the NCAA give a limit to the number of exhibition games a team can have?

Probably, but I've seen more than one schedule out that has both a Canadian game and an U18 game.

Does anyone have photos of the progress being made thus far with HFH?

If I get my hands on a camera, I'll walk up to the field house and snap a couple pictures.

No kidding on the 50,000 watts of glory. On drives home from Sabres games, I can usually pick up WGY at about the time I lose the WGR signal, which is around Batavia or so. (And yet can't get WSYR until Seneca Falls, but I digress...) If RPI were to partner with some other local radio stations, that would be great. Granted, WGY also broadcasts the bouncy-ball games out here, so an alternative may have to be explored for those nights (but that's what WRPI, the flagship station, is for). Of course with any commercial radio or TV station, you have to make room for advertisements... perhaps it's time for a revival of the quick 15-20 second ad at a stoppage, like they used to do for "La Soirée du Hockey" back in the day?

Im gonna assume that this game against the US Junior Team is included in season ticket package right? Either way this will be a fun game to watch and if Jerry does get selected I hope he takes it easy on his team. :D

Usually the only games that are excluded in the season ticket package are the thanksgiving tournament.

Thanks I was pretty sure I got tickets for the tournament last season in my package. I may be a young one but I finished college 4 years ago.

All I can think of with a dedicated marketing spokesman (yes, intentionally a-politically correct) is that the give away for the BRF will start to become so unique that other schools will begin to imitate...

When WGY carried RPI hockey, theirs was a completely separate production from WRPI's.

As I recall from my student days in the late '60's, WRPI's announcers were current students, while WGY's play-by-play man was former Engineer Paul Midghall.

WGY of old is alot different than the WGY of today so I wouldnt count on them jumping at the chance to air RPI hockey instead of whatever nationally syndicated show they would be airing at that time.
