Using a code max 7" stair rise, puts you in the range of an extra 6 or 7 steps....we can even make it 8 for the more geriatric band members...That's the best I can do, unless you know someone at Otis Elevator..:p

geriatric.... transrate to Engrish prease?

I'm sure it could be designed... it is an engineering school after all. IED project FTW. :D I think my concern would be the stability of that stage, as even I feel it may collapse on me on some of those panels while being up there. Granted there will be one less time I will be up there due to superstition...

SUNY Albany is either club or D3, and maybe St. Rose has a club team. :p

SUNYA is club - they practice/play at AA, last I knew. FWIW - in the original plans for the UA campus, a hockey rink was to be included, the site for which was to be behind the baseball field on the other side of the ring road...it was never built due to budget constraints. No hockey at CSR. Siena has a club team.

I really hope you weren't an English minor...According to old man Webster --Geriatric: "..Of or relating to the aged or their characteristic afflictions."

Dude, I give up...if they can build risers to safely hold Metallica's stage setup and their 685 amps and equipment, I think they can handle the RPI Pep Band.

Music and economics, actually. Remember I'm the one that talked about the low SAT Verbal score.

I have no doubt that the stage can hold the band, as it has for years. My only concern was raising the stage in how they were planning to do it, whether or not it would be stable.

I immerse myself at work for a few days and when I return to read my favorite thread, I end up learning about beer, oats, risers & treads, Juneau, definitions and that WS was a goalie...what can be better than that? :)

I just figured it why the Standard Freeholder website hasn't been updated today. It's Dominion Day, and it probably didn't publish. :)

Yes, there are a few people at work (who are convinced in jest that I am Canadian) who decided to remind me of that.

Had an appointment in Troy. Stopped to have lunch w the Mrs. and the boys and stopped by HFH to see renovations. Most of the work is being done in the front. They are reframing the front where the windows use to be painted grey. Mammoth tarps on the seats. And yes they ripped the bandstand up, remnants of it are still in the back by the old zamboni door. I am a big Seth guy but props again to him for upgrading the Field House. SA has upgraded the program and now is going to work on upgrading the physical plant. We're lucky to have him.

I'm not sure if it's the hand of our great coach, or an alumni donation as part of ECAV, or just the fact that the building is a bit out of shape and really needs the updates, thereby requiring either the Union or Auxillary Services (still unclear to me as to where that money comes from) to spend the money. It's good to hear that progress is being made, and I am looking forward to seeing the updates come October.

I hope I don't p*** anyone off here, but one of the things that B.R.O. really liked about RPI was the 'barn'...Aspy: is the reno gonna' take that away? Not that it would make certain large red headed people disgruntled; just looking to see if the charm will remain. Also, FD08 better have a better stage for his group when it's all said and done...;)

The warehouse will still be there, as far as I can tell from the renovation plans; they're simply adding a modern-looking vestibule (insert flak here on choice of vocabulary), some offices, and a box for school presidents that won't enjoy the game with the students. ;) As for the stage, hopefully they will put a higher one back in, I just also hope they didn't throw out the podium again.

I wish you could have seen it back in the 60's when the place looked quite different. Ralph can attest to the changes made-there were an awful lot of really bad seats back in the old days with much of the ice blocked by poles. But it did have a certain charm to it.;)

Agree w Doc and FlagD. It will retain it's "ambiance". Grew up at the Fieldhouse with my dad taking me to games. Watching the Fatman (Adessa) with his foot up on the dasher. Watching for when my older brother (a poster on this thread) was going to sneak by security in the backdoor by the zamboni. Usually right after the puck was dropped for the opening face-off. It's a great old place with many family memories. The great thing about Coach A is he embraces the past while moving forward. Safe to say he will do that with renovations. Tell B.R.O. HFH will change but always remain the same. Let's Go Red!!!

Was there a good seat before the renovation? There were poles everywhere. :)

We will all have our fond memories of HFH. Unfortunately for some they aren't quite as nice, such as the dent in the penalty box wall after a messed up goal decision, although Fridgen's last year created some interesting memories; I still am shocked at some of the colorful language from his daughter.

It seemed that way-There were so many blocked views it was hard at time to see what was going on. But we always had a blast there. :)

If I may start a fondest memories of HFH (hockey or non hockey) discusssion to help in passing some time this summer.

Being a young guy here, I have 2 moments that will always stick with me.

1. The comeback against Clarkson in the Big Red Freakout (aka the night they broke the horn). I still cant help but smile when thinking about that night, the roof was blown off the place when the Engineers won it in OT. I didnt have a voice for a few days after that.

2. Again the Big Red Freakout and Capt. Kirk scoring with under a minute left in the game to win it. That was one of those movie style endings with him rushing up the ice and just letting go of a perfectly placed shot. Add in the fact that CSTV was showing the game nationally.

Also I have been told stories from friends and family about how Mike Tyson knocking people out sounded like a gun shot because he hit the person so hard.

Each season I enter the old barn on the hill and await more memories being made by the team.
