Re: RPI 2010-11 Part II: RPI, the Other Team, the Refs -- We're outnumbered 10 to 6.

Real quick side note, and it's not intended to sidetrack from the discussion for the upcoming weekend...

I was browing First Church's website (that's a link for those of you who are colorblind...) and thinking about Sullivan's most recent column, and saw that Brinkworth and Chiarelli have a combined 29 PIM. Combined, they have five seasons where they didn't commit any penalties. Either that's ridiculous, or PIM stats just disappeared over the years.

Frank Chiarelli had penalties in all four seasons http://www.augenblick.org/rpi/h_02sc.html, a total of 43 min. Brinkworth also had penalties in each of his three seasons http://www.augenblick.org/rpi/h_03sc.html, a total of 20 min.

Now that you say it, that makes sense, given that Zarbo's only game last year was at Niagara (and he's from Grand Island). Not sure if that's what will happen (maybe he'll wait for Q-Pac to play Beauregard), but it's possible.

I was making that assumption/prediction/supposition given Appert's "... there's a good chance that (senior) Kevin Beauregard will play this weekend." quote from Weaver's piece.

Opportunities due to injuries have jump started many a career...just ask Tom Brady.:D

I think we'll again see Cullen, Polacek, Brutlag as well as AAG, Rogic, Halpern. I think Tinordi is a lock for the Brown game. I am sure JFK and the boys have filled both he and Mr. Bailen in on Brown's M.O.
We'll be ready. :p

Beauregard is a CT kid, so my guess is Seth will start him Vs. Yale in the hopes that he'll play with intensity in front of his peeps.

I noticed that Harry Z. got tossed from the BU game in the 2nd period, so Brown has their share of discipline issues to manage. BU was able to limit B to 10 shots in the final two periods...hopefully we can have similar results.

Do you think Seth should call up Tim McCraken for the Brown game :D

I don't remember the refs being noticed as much in the old days-Brinkworth drew more penalties in one game on the opposition than he sometimes took himself in an entire season. He was very very good.

With a subset of Beauregard, Burgdoerfer, Smith, and Tinordi replacing Lee, Malchuk, and O'Grady; we will be quite tall (not short) up front. :D

We will probably be big enough for Brown-but will we be fast enough for Yale? I am expecting all the boys to step up, that's what this team seems to do especially late in games-they do not quit.

Here's my guess for lines against Yale:

Helfrich-Polacek-Cullen
AAG-Higgs-Brutlag
Tinordi-Rogic-Rabbani
Smith-Halpern-Burgdoerfer

If Malchuk, Lee, and O'Grady are all out it really limits our speed options. I imagine Appert will stack the top three lines as much as possible and the 4th line will play sparingly (at best).

SA mentioned to the intrepid Ed Weaver that they moved Helfrich off the top line because lack of scoring at even strength by top line. Something to that effect. Brutlag makes the top line along with Patty and Chase IMO after Christmas Tourney performance.

All makes sense . I think we will miss Malchuk quite a bit-he is tenacious out there and would be disruptive for Yale with his forcheck. He sometimes gets overlooked but when you watch him, he has always given everything he has for the entire game.

I totally agree. He is even putting up some decent scoring numbers this year. I really hope he takes advantage of his redshirt year and sticks around.

What is the estimated timetable on our injuries?

JFK: probably out until after Christmas (assuming he could play earlier, but won't rush back for NC games)
CJ Lee: same
O'Grady: back after this weekend?
Malchuk: ???

Talking with JFK, it's looking like he's getting re-casted next Wednesday. Like I said earlier, I don't expect him back until the games against UAH or the North Country.

My first time back in a while (hello Gentlemen...)...if any of you are planning on being at the Yale Game tonight, please let me know if you'll be attending the after game pizza dinner at che babo...I need to know how many pies I will be baking...and my offer stands for any of you from the thread to spend the night!

I'll have on my RPI BRFO scarf from last year (and if it's as cold tonight as it is this morning, look for the woman wearing the colony of raccoons on her back...hard to miss...))
