Re: RPI 2010-11 Part II: RPI, the Other Team, the Refs -- We're outnumbered 10 to 6.

I couldn't access the stat, but I'm pretty sure that RPI's average attendance is in the upper quarter or so of D-1 programs. Union is laboring under the problem of having a D-3 building for a D-1 program. The recent renovations were almost entirely non fan related, and well you know about lipstick on a pig. ...
As I have long advocated, it is long past time to call in the air strike on that fire trap. :D

Your showing your age RB it would now be the National Grid power play brought to you by the good folks of the UK(we don't even supply our own power anymore !!!!)

I thought that it might not be Niagara Mohawk anymore, but I was too lazy to look it up. :)

....yesterday when I went to Price Chopper (in Glenmont) I saw, for the 1st time, a poster on the window promoting discounts for using your PC Advantage card. The discounts were; $2 off tix UAlbany football....$2 off Albany Devils....$2 off Union hockey....$1 off tix to RPI mens hockey.

I wonder if that's new, or if it's happened for quite a while. I would venture a guess as to the latter, as Price Chopper is typically off/on with their promotions (specifically the gas deal). Are you able to buy your ticket at Price Chopper, or must you present the card at the box office?

I'll have to ask about tix purchases later today as I didn't yesterday.....the fact that there was a discount on UAlbany ftbll leads me to believe it's been there awhile....although it is a quite large poster to have not seen before

Given that RPI is using its own ticketing system (that even the folks at the box office appear to be still learning how to use), I'd venture a guess to say that you'd use your PC card at the box office for the discount.

The big poster has been there for a while. They had it last year as well. I never bought the tickets though, because I have season tickets. A few years back I remember Union had a small billboard on Erie Boulevard promoting some of their games.

....I asked at PC and was told, "just show your PC Advantage Card at HFH and the discount would be taken off there". It was there last year as well and also applied to RPI football.

'Tute link to an eight-page spread about college hockey in The Hockey News http://www.rpiathletics.com/news/2010/12/1/MHOCK_1201105827.aspx. They didn't mention that this was a paid NCAA insert. There was, as I mentioned before, a nice unpaid article about Pat Koudys.

Give THN some credit. They went a perfect 6-0 - spelled Rensselaer correctly four times (counting the TV listings) in the eight-page spread and twice more in the Koudys article. :)

I bought a ticket and I gave it to the tickettaker and they let me into the game.

Ed Weaver notes that Marty O'Grady was injured in practice yesterday and will sit vs. Yale and Brown. Appert mentioned that Beauregard could see play along with Burgdoerfer, Tinordi, and Smith.

Ouch. We're getting pretty thin on O. Wouldn't surprise me if we see a shortened bench for stretches of these two games.

I think we would probably see Beauregard, if at any time, for the Brown game. I would not be surprised if this is Rogic's time to step up as well.

We should be OK on O, just so long as we don't lose anyone else.

We have lost some more of the speed that aided in the wins vs. Yale last season.

We will be quite short up front obviously. Wondering a little about this epidemic of concussions. Hopefully they are mild or just being overdiagnosed for safety sake. This will just make this already tough weekend that much tougher for us.

With a subset of Beauregard, Burgdoerfer, Smith, and Tinordi replacing Lee, Malchuk, and O'Grady; we will be quite tall (not short) up front. :D

Opportunities due to injuries have jump started many a career...just ask Tom Brady.:D

I think we'll again see Cullen, Polacek, Brutlag as well as AAG, Rogic, Halpern. I think Tinordi is a lock for the Brown game. I am sure JFK and the boys have filled both he and Mr. Bailen in on Brown's M.O.
We'll be ready. :p

Beauregard is a CT kid, so my guess is Seth will start him Vs. Yale in the hopes that he'll play with intensity in front of his peeps.

I noticed that Harry Z. got tossed from the BU game in the 2nd period, so Brown has their share of discipline issues to manage. BU was able to limit B to 10 shots in the final two periods...hopefully we can have similar results.

Now that you say it, that makes sense, given that Zarbo's only game last year was at Niagara (and he's from Grand Island). Not sure if that's what will happen (maybe he'll wait for Q-Pac to play Beauregard), but it's possible.
