Yeah so... Jerry D'Amigo didn't just skate today... He full-blown practiced.

Big. Brass. Balls.

Totally agree. His quote below sums it up for RPI fans nicely:

"... “but this (RPI) is my team right now. These are big games and more important right now than playing in World Juniors. Cornell (5-2-0 in ECAC Hockey play) and Colgate (4-2-1) are two of the tops teams in our league.”

Ken Schott's blog http://www.dailygazette.com/weblogs/schott/2009/dec/02/damigo-unexpectedly-practices/. D'Amigo practiced today. A video interview is included.

Edit: GLM found a Record article first. :D

I am assuming the origianl diagnosis of MCL sprain was correct-if so, this has to be the mildest strain I have ever heard of. One thing is for sure-I love this kid and am very proud that he is a member of the RPI team. I have a new favorite to root for:)

But it still needs some time to heal. Of course, being 18 years old, he heals a lot faster than I would. :D

Agreed. We'll see how it feels when he wakes up tomorrow...after a good night's sleep in the Hyberbaric...:D I think he's 50-50 at best for the weekend. The good news is that we're not travelling so he can get continuing treatment right up to game time.

I'm bummed that Lee's still out with nagging ankle, not wrist injury. We could use his mojo and physicality this weekend. I was pleasantly surprised to see Josh Rabbani returning to form with his hard skating go-to-the net ways last weekend. Hope he keeps it up on Fri. night.

In 2002 I tore my MCL in my 50's. It was a minor tear and we tried conservative treatment for 2 weeks-I was in agony with every movement. I eventually coerced the Orthopod to do arthroscopic surgical repair of the MCL. I recovered but it took a couple of months of intense physical therapy. Oh to be 18 again!!

Interesting that Weaver's description of the injury included in parens "legally, not below the knee" in describing the what Jerry termed "clipped" by the Union D.

I'll stand corrected, but I don't recall hearing anything about the cleanliness of the play pass Jerry's lips in describing the injury in Schott's video. I'm NOT saying it was dirty, just pointing out that Weaver blurred the line between Jerry's actual statements and what I'm guessing is Weaver's opinion/view of the play.

If he had a question of what Jerry thought of the cleanliness of the play, he should have asked him, then he could have used a quote. Oh well.

Getting "clipped" can sometimes just be the regular old way of telling the story. Given how much Weaver is around these guys they're probably more comfortable talking to him. If Weaver thought he meant it as something dirty I'm sure he would've asked for clarification.

Best case scenario, Weaver is just making things clear as to what he meant. Worst case scenario, Weaver isn't doing his job right. :D

Very funny WS:) I have had 3 arthroscopic procedures done in my life-they are no panacea-they are as damaging as open surgery-the only thing less about them is the scars are very tiny. They still go in and do the same procedure they would do in the old days by opening you up and filleting you like a fish. My knees took months to regain full motion and strength and my shoulder, well let's say it just has never been the same.:(

Re: RPI 2009 - 2010 Part II: I Believe in Seth Appert

Well, as we all know, if we had made that hit on the other team, the player would probably receive a 3-game suspension.

I'm not shocked Jerry wants to get out there. Obviously nothing is going to stop his motivation, and I like that. Obviously many of us feel discretion is the better part of valor.

You know I love to give you a hard time Doc!
I share your pain. I'm an '07 graduate of the MCL/medial meniscus club...:D

My surgery was a walk in the park...who was your surgeon, Dr. Wiglknife? :p What was insanely evil was the pre-op epidural that "Dr. Happy" administered ...they're saving a special place in hell for that guy. Wow. Therapy was fun too.:p

I had good surgeons for the knees and the best for the shoulder-just had a lot of severe damage from many years of neglecting it on my part-had to work and never could find the time to take off and rehab. I detested the rehab-I think the doctor who ordered it must have been Mengele. I am sure if I had it done when I was younger it would have been simpler. Knees were done under spinal anesthesia as yours was-I recommend that highly as opposed to general anesthesia. My shoulder was done under general and it took hours to come out of it. My point was that the surgery is still basically the same as the old days when they had to make a big opening and scar to do it-it is merely the size of the scars that are smaller.:)

Anything surrounding someone connected to the Maple Leafs is going to be awash in buzz. D'Amigo is playing very well and Canadians want to see him up close and personal while he gets groomed. This is no different than the stuff from HF talking about still holding out hope they'd go to major-junior after they've already signed up for classes.

Guys bolting from Minnesota or Michigan makes sense because they're cogs in the machine there. Leaving a place like RPI makes sense if the team is doing poorly or if the minutes played aren't up to the player's liking. D'Amigo fits neither of those explanations.

Not a likely scenario..but the OHL is always poaching -

Yeah, well, whoever wrote that didn't read this.

Jerry D’Amigo told coach Seth Appert on Monday, “I’m playing Friday night, coach.”

This following an MCL injury that was supposed to sideline him for two weeks.

“I want to get back and help the team win,” D’Amigo said.

Yeah, he's really not happy at RPI, is he.

Don't believe everything you read.
