Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

It looks like Merriam will be playing this weekend, but York is off his crutches http://www.troyrecord.com/articles/2010/02/17/sports/doc4b7cc78f536b6360036027.txt.

Schottzkie indicated as much on his 980AM piece -- he thought that it would be a long shot for York to play. He said Appert indicated there was some improvement, but I for one don't want to see York push his luck out there this weekend...we need him healthy for the playoffs.

Why did RC's fake article from a few months ago immediately come to mind when I read this.....

In any case, I do also hope that Allen gets healthy soon. We may be able to cope with Bryce Merriam in the ECAC's, but on the offset chance that we get to the big dance, Yorkie will help us A LOT. I mean, let's face it, he's Mr. March!

I take back any rotten thing I have said about ESPNU.

The mother station, on the other hand, is a different story.......

Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

Weaver wrote an article in the Record today "Engineers need more offense from defensemen" maybe, maybe, but he misses da ball altogether. They have lost games this year not because their d hasn't stepped up and made plays. They have lost games they should have won because the defense broke down in the neutral zone or their own end. Not just defensemen but also forwards d zone coverage late in games is the problem. It is an illness!! It may only be cured by Sunday Night Aerobics
It is not a coincidence that Cornell is 1 in ECAC and have the least amount of goals against. 36 GA in ECAC play dat is some sic chit

Weaver is a bag. Some Larries' defenseman scored a goal big freakin deal

"Engineers need more defense from their offense"
When you giveaway games in the last couple minutes it is not because a defenseman didn't stepup and "get into the play"

Please offense sells tickets defense wins games

This post was nearly impossible to read, due to the lack of complete sentences. But, assuming that my translator is working correctly, I agree with the premise of the post. Defense wins games and RPI is losing games because of their lack of D at critical times, not because their D-men are not scoring.

Well, it's hard to completely fault the D. The game tying goal on Saturday last week was thanks to a horrid pass from a forward who probably should have gone backwards with it. After the turnover, he was pretty much all alone deep in the zone since everyone else had gone into the neutral zone.

We have a good defense overall - 2nd ranked in the ECAC - it's just that they have this head-scratcher breakdowns late that have been the issue.

QFT? such a nerd

Quoted For Truth, Beman. It's a rather common internet acronym. If I'd used "QED," which is what you were probably thinking of, then yes.

As it is, though, I've seen enough butthurt for one day coming from RIT representatives, I really don't need to see your butthurt too.

Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

got that right

Ah, there's my stalker chiming in with further butthurt. She's still angry about my Yale pairwise analysis and is projecting. Again.

Come to think of it, Beman and kmp have quite a bit in common.

Re: RPI 2009-10 Part IV: The Boys are Back in Town

Lack of D at critical times was not intended to mean defensive breakdowns by only the D-men and was also not intended to say that the D is playing poorly as a whole. I like our defensive corps. I just think there have been breakdowns in the defensive end at critical times.
