We gave up 2 early goals on flukey / bad bounces. Basically HC spent about 30 seconds in our zone for the entire first period and got 2 goals out of it otherwise the puck was in their end for most of it. Still, we didn't get too many quality scoring chances in spite of RIT's edge in puck possession.
Personally, I felt we didn't play with enough grit. We did not hit and battle like I saw against Brock, St-Lawrence and Clarkson and HC is all about grit and slowing down the play with sloppy play and getting in the way. Lot's of interference in front of their net that they got away with too.
I find our top line tries to be too pretty - especially on the PP. No one goes to the front of the net and they want to make pretty tic-tac-toe plays instead of getting pucks to the net for ugly goals so consequently, we didn't get many good chances and finally scored late in the second and then tied it up pretty late in the third only to let HC come right back and score. Garbo tied it again with about a minute to play and that's how it ended.
Someone on the team must agree with my view because on their last PP, Mitchell was parked in front instead of off to the side. 2nd line did nothing for much of the game and really, haven't seen much from them most games. The third line is much more effective in my opinion and the 4th line had some good shifts tonight too. Perron-Fontaine was back on the blue line and Shumway, Fostvelt and Amlong sat.
Ruby got the start and played well, making some big saves. Couldn't really fault him on the goals and I would expect him to get tomorrow's start.
