CJHL teams start in September. If you figure they play about 3 games a week, six weeks ago is the middle of September.

In fact some like the CCHL start at the end of August so a quick check of their site shows one team already at 26 games. They play a 60+ game schedule that ends in early March so they add up pretty quickly.

I just noticed RMU got ranked 18th this week. How? I mean, I know they're awesome this year, but how is RIT getting out recruited and outperformed by other AHA schools for the last 3 years now? It's frustrating when we're actively trying to build the program and we get results like last weekend.

Edit- HOLY COW RMU IS 7th on PWR. What is going on in college hockey??

Its very early in the season. PWR means nothing right now.

Robert Morris really hasn't played anyone either. They have played Lake Superior State and conference games. Since they haven't lost yet, the voters deemed them a top 20 team. That's going to happen after a few weeks, especially when other teams keep losing.

I think RIT will be on the way up the standings. They have played a pretty rugged schedule so far and I think that will help them.

I agree and disagree. Money talks, especially in today’s economy. Parents do not want their kids taking out $100,000 student loans when they don't have to.

I think RIT is doing well with recruits but it would be 100 times better with scholarships. If RIT was in the ECAC we would fare much better without scholarships but playing in the bush league of D1 hockey and no scholarships is hard for recruiting.

I would throw my hat into RIT playing in the Big Ten. It doesn’t matter if we suck because we haven’t made to the BCA is a couple years anyhow.

But with all that being said, RIT still has the potential to be #2 this year and has a shot at winning the AHA Championship at the BCA. Robert Morris will win the league hands down. Quote me on that.

And are some of us so quick to write off the season after 7 tough games? The next 6 games are going to be a better indicator of where RIT will be at the end of the season in conference play.

Definitely not writing this team off. If they keep playing they way they have so far I expect to see them back at Blue Cross this year. My bitterness came from other AHA schools having recognition and putting together better teams than us by far and wide.

I would counter if RIT played RoMo's schedule so far, they could be undefeated.

I also think more of RIT's problems were internal and not lack of talent. This team is clearly played more like we are accustomed to and barring more injuries, RIT SHOULD be at Blue Cross at least.

RIT and Air Force raised the bar for the league when they joined. There clearly are teams that took that personally and added to their budget. The addition of teams that we knew were spending on hockey like Niagara and Robert Morris also meant teams willing to pay the price for success.

RIT obviously peaked with the Frozen Four appearance. Not having scholarships is going to hurt some, even in a conference that has less scholarships. That is why the new arena is so important - and will be huge in getting better recruits down the road. No longer is it, this is what we are going to have (and let's be honest, we weren't sure what that was) to this is what we have. The arena will mean that better OOC teams could be more willing to play here, and we can give recruits that opportunity to play against the bigger teams. That is an edge that RIT will HAVE to exploit in convincing players to come to RIT.

Just annouced as OJHL SW player of the month, tied for the scoring lead in the OJHL, former line mate with Kerins, wearing a 'A' for North York. Sounds like a good pickup. Give the new arena time and the AHA keeps getting better. Yes we all like to get out of the AHA, and it might happen. Just give it time...

I think Rotolo will start in net tonight. Why? Just a guess... if he's been looking good during practice I'd say Coach Wilson will start him.

Quick question guys, do they sell alcohol at all the concession stands in the Polisseni Center, or just the one that's only accessible to people who bought the club seats?
