That's classic Frank Serratore right there.

I don't think this RIT team was hurting for confidence. The St. Lawrence win looks better as they have a winning record, and that they hung tough with Clarkson while being slightly shorthanded should have given them enough confidence. Even the last period against BC was good for the Tigers. And now they dominated Air Force.

I expect Air Force to play a much better game tonight - especially early on. If they weather that storm I think they can come put with at least a tie. The weekend was made good with a win, now let's make it great with a sweep.

Oh no doubt. Here's one from the Colorado Springs Gazette (http://gazette.com/late-period-goal...key-in-fourth-straight-loss/article/1540162): "We're bleeding out of so many orifices right now, I mean, we don't have enough sutures to sew them all up."

I suppose there will be a few more penalties tonight:

Air Force defenseman Dan Weissenhofer said it was the final push that concerned him on a night like this.

The game grew chippy with six third-period penalties, including Weissenhofer's boarding call in the final two minutes. He said the team needed to play with that kind of fight at that point, even down four goals.

"That's what leads into tomorrow," the senior captain said. "That's how we're going to play tomorrow."

I never suppose anything at Air Force when it comes to the refs. I expect that is probably how they will play. Whether or not it gets called or not is always another question.

That's awful. Playing dirty is not the same thing as playing hard. Hopefully the refs call the game fairly if AF decides to go full goon mode, but as komey said, that's always questionable at Air Force. According to the radio guys he should have been ejected last night for that hit.

Anyway, really good performance by the team, obviously. I really, really like the look of the freshmen. Adding two top four defensemen in the Norrish twins is absolutely huge.

If AF does play dirty, I really hope that it doesn't result in injuries for the Tigers. The refs better take control early.

same lineup for us. AF mixed up some forwards and grabbed and extra D-man, probably to take Weissenhofer's spot after he gets tossed.

same lineup for us.

That's a bit surprising. Is Shumway injured, or just in the doghouse? I thought we might see him and Amlong tonight in place of Holland and one of the freshmen.

I suppose Coach's philosophy might just be not to mess with what worked last night.

i agree Shumway and Amlong are better but if AF is going to be more physical it will be good for the bigger guys to be in.

I just don't even know what to say. RIT outplayed AFA all game. Rotolo played well. Serratore made a ballsy move and got paid off for it. RIT kills off a penalty in OT. We outshoot AFA by a huge margin. We looked fast and in control. AFA still wins? Unbelievable.

This one can be put on the laps on the officials. They could not get out of way of the puck. And the last one cost RIT the game.

Still a good weekend. It's hard to get 2 points out there. Even if it should have been 3 or 4.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

The final icing call actually happened with 3 seconds left in the AF power play. A "double screw up".

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

For anyone doubting whether that icing call was bogus, here's the rule, which the official should have known. We watched the video feed, and there were at least 2, maybe 3 seconds remaining when the puck was last touched.

85.6 Numerical Strength - If the puck was so shot by a player of a team below
the numerical on-ice strength of the opposing team, play shall continue
and the faceoff shall not take place.
Note: In exhibition contests, this exception shall not be in effect.
When a team is shorthanded as the result of a penalty and the penalty is
about to expire, the decision as to whether there has been an icing infraction
shall be determined at the instant the penalty expires, and if the puck is
shot before the penalty expires, icing shall not be called.

Anyway. Sucks for hockey when a game's outcome is determined by a call like that.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

I'm sorry, but that wasn't the only call that was in the least bit bias. RIT could have easily won that game 3-0 if they were not on countless PK after PK that perhaps a quarter of which was deserved. The most agregious call (or lack there of) was that dangerous boarding incident that was never penalized. I had to gather a lot of strength to not throw my drink and popcorn onto the ice.

I am a real sourpuss right now. Hopefully our boys are ****ed at themselves for giving up so many penalties.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

Anyone know what RIT's bench minor was when the goal was scored in OT? My guess would be it was from the coaches/team expressing their displeasure with the icing call, but i'm not certain.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

I don't understand how the same team of officials can be so good on Friday and so bad on Saturday.

Coach was right though -- they kind of let the officiating get into their heads, coaches included, and that caused them to make mistakes.

Look on the bright side, though: We outplayed Air Force in Colorado Springs for 5 solid periods. That bodes very very well for the rest of the season.

Too many men on the ice. An RIT player was stepping through the door to the bench on a line change. An Air Force player sending the puck along the boards hit his leg.

That happened, but then when the winning goal was scored, there was a bench minor assessed.
