We did not play a full roster on Saturday. We only had ten forwards dressed. With Miller and Schuler injured, and Mikowski and Goldberg out, we only had 10 forwards available.

You are right. According to the line chart (http://www.ritathletics.com/custompages/mhock/2014-15/RIT_Line Chart_Clarkson_101114.pdf), Perron-Fontaine was on a forward line though, but the 4th line was still missing a center.

I thought Ruby was better than MacLean. It will be interesting to see who gets the start against BC. I suspect it will be Rotolo getting his "turn".

Agreed. I do think that Ruby was slightly better. And I hope that Rotolo gets the start vs BC. If he's on his game, then I think he's RIT best chance to keep this game close.

We got a "I believe that Clarkson's band sucks" cheer going in the Corner Crew.

Excellent! I couldn't hear it on TV.

Between the first and second periods, the TV guys mentions something about Wilson "sending a message" to some of the freshman indicating that is why some of them that played on Friday were scratched on Saturday. I was not paying close attention so if they mentioned a reason(s) I didn't catch it but they specifically mentioned the Norrish twins. They also mentioned that they thought the leaders on the team would sit down with the younger players and straighten things out.

That would have been difficult considering the rebound was off of the defenseman, not off of MacLean.

As the game went on I quickly got more comfortable with MacLean than Ruby. After 3 seasons I still get nervous every time someone shoots at Ruby. MacLean has superior positioning and is pretty much exactly as fast at Ruby at recovering from being out of position. However his sound position means he doesn't have to scramble nearly as much as Ruby. He reminds me of Madolora in this respect. If you never have to make a flashy save, you're doing something right. Also consider that MacLean had more saves against a better team than Ruby did.

They both like to play the puck behind the net, and neither of them are very good at it. MacLean seemed superior to Ruby in this respect as well, though. He had no horrible turnovers from his puck handling and in more cases than not his aggressive playing of the puck helped RIT to get control and break out. I specifically remember Ruby skating behind the net only to watch the puck go right under his stick several times on Friday, and those situations often end up in opportunities for the other team.

On the whole I was very encouraged by both goalies performance. I still think Rotolo gives us the best chance to win as a team, but if he's truly getting his first start against BC it's going to be a tall task to match the save percentages of his competition. The team has the chance to win every night if any of their goalies can play as well as they did this weekend.

I hope Rotolo gets the start vs BC; I don't think we want his first game action to be in Colorado Springs.

MacLean might be the best goaltender on this team since DeMichiel.

I also believe this might be the best Tigers squad in quite some time. There's a team-wide physicality that has never been there before, and that is what always hurt us against the big name schools. If they can continue to play the body and play with speed, they will be a surprise team this year in the NCAA.

Just an excellent performance over the whole weekend.

Re: >>>>>RIT TIGERS... The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us!<<<<<

I would prefer if both goalies stayed in the net. I thought MacLean in particular was too aggressive in playing the puck. He had some attempted poke check in the 2nd that was uh, not good. I think Clarkson almost scored on that play but a player blocked the shot. Was hard for me to totally make out, I sit near the corner crew and the play was on the far end

For those unfamiliar, RIT now has a petition system very much like We The People called PawPrints. When a petition reaches 400 signatures, Student Government will respond to it.

I saw this petition today: https://pawprints.rit.edu/petitions/b5kqyrTnZho9HftGN

It complains about 'the home of the Tigers' at the end of the national anthem, and asks that it be switched back to 'the home of the brave' as "a sign of respect for those who have or are currently serving in the military."

I don't really see this going anywhere - I don't expect the administration to come back and say that the CC/fans can't yell "tigers" at the end of the anthem - but what do you guys think of this?

If the military academies don't complain about it I see nothing wrong with yelling home of the tigers at the end of the national anthem. So that's what I say to those people. In fact I've been told they like that we do that.

I understand the sentiment, and it's something I've often wondered about. There are a number of schools that highlight a particular word by yelling it louder (I think Clarkson yelled "gave proof through the Knight..."). Changing the word from Brave to Tigers is a little different. But man, it really gets the crowd into it and get's me more amped for the game. So I guess I'm a little conflicted.

There has been a small minority of people who have been complaining about that for years. I am as about patriotic as can be, and heck have even been accused of being a right wing nut job by some ;-)

I've never had a problem, with yelling Tigers at the end of the anthem. When you really think about it playing national anthem at any sporting event is kind of silly in the first place and really was always just cold war type politics. It's just a little school pride and given the large American flag in the corner crew make the argument even more silly...

This also violates NCAA policies
What policy is that?

Just to put my $.02 in... the petition mentions respect for veterans and those currently in the military... I am a veteran (with disabilities) and I have no problem whatsoever with fans, including myself, yelling "Tigers" at the end of the anthem.

I did some searching and came up empty :)

For the record: that was not my petition and I see no issues with yelling "Tigers." Just posted it here for discussion

And the author of the petition's spelling and grammar is almost as bad as Tom's :p

If this is true, then what the hell is Wilson thinking? Why intentionally play down people if you have the bodies even if somehow the freshmen made lots of mistakes (not saying they did.) One thing I noticed Saturday was that Kuqali and Shumway do not compliment each other well at all. I felt like their line was really weak together but on Friday when each were paired with a Norrish twin the lines were great. The Norrishs went hard for every puck and look forward to having them for four years.

Like some people said we looked gassed at the end of the game, and maybe not intentionally playing short would have helped in this regard.

Gene Battaglia tweeted that it was because the four had missed a team meeting https://twitter.com/GeneBattaglia/status/521071325016629248
Still a mistake but not a "game" mistake like a giveaway or anything.

Hard to say if that's a mistake they should sit out a game for. Especially because it hurts their teammates and could have even led to an injury. On the other hand, Wayne needs to make it clear that the players have obligations to the team, and missing meetings is not acceptable. I don't envy our players; they have to balance school, hockey, and social lives. Missing a meeting for school reasons might be more understandable, but one wonders if they are student-athletes or athlete-students.

Edit: Reading the tweet, it seems that the players were sat because they were late for a meeting, not that they missed a meeting.

Coach Wilson has rules, you break them you sit, no matter who it is, what game it is, or even if that means the team plays without a full roster. It sends the team a clear message. You're not getting away with crap. I really like that about him. Hopefully the freshman learned quickly.

I'd agree as long as it wasn't hockey > school. That being said, I'm sure the team is reasonable and wouldn't punish someone for skipping a meeting while they were in class or taking a test.

I'm pretty sure they missed the Saturday morning meeting before the game according to what I heard on the SportsZone broadcast, so any class/test excuses would be irrelevant.
