It sounded like Ginn made some very good saves when called upon. Still, RIT had their chances. Any chance at at least a bye most likely hinges on a win tonight. Army won last night so no clinch of home games in the first round yet.

Army won last night so no clinch of home games in the first round yet.

I'm starting to think that, by backing into it, hosting a first round playoff series at GPC is probably in the cards for RIT.

My thoughts exactly, not much upside about finishing 5th in this 11 team league except maybe some rest if the team would benefit from it.

Sounded like RIT played a full 60 minutes, like how they kept HC pinned down which made it difficult to get the extra skater on, no let up. As I thought, with AF sweeping, things will be tight these last two weeks. Good win tonight, hope they have a relatively quick and safe ride home. Great job by the radio guys as well tonight, love the description of not being able to drive the rental car up to the rink, having to back back down, and then having to walk to the rink. Friday night we outshot them 36-26 but got stoned by Ginn all night. Saturday night we outshot them 32-16. Only allowing 16 shots to any D1 team is a pretty dominating defensive effort. Additionally RIT took 7 penalties on Friday compared to only 2 on Saturday..

I believe I have a change in heart with Ruby. Both Rotolo and Ruby are both medicore at best.

As this was the second shut out of this season (utterly embarrassing) Ruby should get the start against Robert Morris.

The standings are looking extremely gloomey. As it looks now, RIT will be in sixth with Air Force in 5th. The only saving grace RIT has is to pray they can get some points from Robert Morris and sweep Mercyhurst... But... There is hope. Canisius has four difficult games ahead. If they can lose them all... RIT has a better chance.

RIT does not want to face Air Force in Colorado...

Can RIT get anything from Robert Morris.

Question: Does Robert Morris have a large senior class?

FYI if we finish in 6th and Air Force finishes in 5th, we won't be playing them in Colorado.

The 5th place team gets a first round bye and then a second round AWAY series...I don't really think the 5th seed is all that desirable given the road series you're forced to play. A 6th seed to me seems better as it will give home ice, at least. I'm not scared of a first round series against the basement teams at home.....though I think we all expect Niagara could pull out a miracle..........

First off... Ruby only needed to save 16 shots total last night... This means his defensive men were working hard for him last night. Just because he got a shut out doesn't mean my thoughts on him changed. One game does not change anything. But it does give him confidence for this upcoming weekend and that is why I say he should start. Confidence is everything to goalies who really need it. A shut out does just that.

And yes I stick to my opinion that mediocre is the best word to describe our goalie situation. I would rate both goalies below average compared to AHA (AHC?) goalies. Not by much but just enough where games we should win, we do not...

Don't get me wrong I want RIT to win just like the rest of you, but RIT is in this position they are in for a reason. To many close games this year have been squandered.

I think we can all agree that Ginn is the best goalie in the league. But Holy Cross tends to play a style that is very defensive. I think other than that, I think our goalies are as good as anyone else in the league. The difference between this year and their glory years is that the team is not scoring, so they don't win as much.

Conference play rankings
In Goals Against Average: Ruby leads the conference at 1.893, Rotolo is 9th with 2.543
In Save Percentage: Ruby is 4th at .928, Rotolo is 14th with .898

I think based off this, Ruby is as good as most any goalie in the league at putting RIT in position to win. However, RIT has not been able to score enough for him to do so.
