>>>>> RIT TIGERS - Roaring into the postseason <<<<<

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Roaring into the postseason <<<<<

Congratulations on a great showing by RIT and Atlantic Hockey, stood in the thick of things and with a bounce or two could well have been moving on.

I see RIT having some great years ahead lineup looks solid. Some players will be moving on look forward to their success, new recruits coming on board and another try next season.

Nice to see and read the comments coming from the posters who follow teams in different leagues as well as some of our regular AHA posters. RIT does have strong ties to the Liberty League and it's nice to hear from some of those fans whose teams are in the ECAC.

At any rate, I think I'm leaning towards Providence in the FF. What say you?

Great to see a late season surge by RIT who ably represented the New York State "Liberties" - albeit w/out D1 grants in aid which are not a necessary ingredient
for a successful program when you have the right players with a superior coaching staff

Now if only there were an opening in the ECAC

Though I think Norrish was out of position on the clearing attempt by Kuqali that led to the second goal.

On the replay they showed from behind the RIT goal, Norrish appeared to be headed to the bench for a change. Clearly Kuqali didn't realize that. Whether it was a lack of communication or lack of awareness, only the players know, but it was a most untimely mistake for sure. That was the difference in the game imo. It's a shame that Ruby couldn't get a piece of the long shot, but even that first goal didn't seem to change the tone of the game at all. The Tigers kept playing their game and getting their chances. That is, until that second one went in. Then everything changed. I'm thinking that breakaway for goal # 3 never happens if it's still 1-0.
If if if if ... the Tigers just could have snuck one of their many chances in behind Massa in the first or second periods... but they didn't.
They certainly left everything they had out on the ice. Can't argue with the effort at all. What else could we have asked for?
Let's hope this carries over through next season. Efforts like this year's late season's and post-season's efforts night in and night out will keep this team in contention for conference championships and NCAA tournament upset(s) for years to come.

Now that the season has come to an end, let's talk some business.

Any murmurs around Garbowski getting picked up? I imagine there has to be some AHL teams looking at him.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Roaring into the postseason <<<<<

Thank you Tigers for an amazing run.

I would expect Garbo and McGowen to get picked up by some team for playoff runs.

The defense is should be even better with everyone returning. Hopefully someone will step up to fill the massive scoring shoes of Garbo and McGowen. There are some players with potential though.

My only concern with signings would be that teams have already stocked up from players whose seasons ended last week or earlier. Someone should snap 'em up, though. Ruby, too.

For next year, assuming we have Schuler and Mitchell as our top-line wingers, who's going to play center? Maybe Smith?

Next year you will have a well earned target on your backs.Take aim RMU😊

I don't think this group will be phased by having a target on their backs. It starts with Coach Wilson and he will do what he has to do throughout the early part of next season to have this team ready for a playoff run at the end of the season regardless of where RIT finishes in the regular season.

New commitment to RIT for next season, Austin Wright.

Guy had 48 points in 31 games as a defenseman this season, eye popping numbers.

Is 2016-17 "next season" already? =)

The Niagara Falls Canucks website says he accepted a Division I scholarship to play for RIT. Is there something we should know? =)

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS - Roaring into the postseason <<<<<

Big congrats to the team this year. I admit that I wasn't the most attentive or supportive fan this year and I certainly didn't see this run coming earlier in the season. Great to see the team really come together when it counted. Great that Garbo and McGowan won an aha championship and made some real noise in the tournament. They were a really good pairing when they were freshmen and it's sad to see them go.

He's getting some form of scholarship to attend RIT, it just doesn't have the word athletic associated with it. All players on our teams get some form of financial aid such as academic and other types of scholarships. We are a large private school and like most other large private schools we tend to use a portion of our endowment for student financial aid.

Not arguing but I have noticed jr leagues throw the word scholarship around loosely. Hope the tigers reap some recruiting wins with the classy program they run.

In GOJHL which is Junior B vs. A (like most of our players)... only other guy we got from there (if my memory is correct) was Caleb Cameron also from the GOJHL who also had eye popping numbers (35-55-90)

Also, looks like played forward for them rather than D this year: http://www.eliteprospects.com/team.php?team=2626&status=stats

Looks like Ruby is getting a tryout with the Toledo Walleye of the ECHL. Good luck to him.

Tyler Brenner also played in the GOJHL.

Anyone know what he's up to?

Pulling for another RITrun to the FF.

Went to Albany as a neutral... Corner Crew won me over really quickly.

... Like Coach said yesterday, maybe the 2010 success came a little too soon...Not to say I won't enjoy the ride while it lasts.
From a neutral fan's point of view, the success of 2010 didn't come too soon. Quite honestly the RIT fans were the single best thing about the Ford Field Frozen Four. We even had a nice contingent of RIT fans at the Posters' Game in Ann Arbor...

Anyhow, congratulations on a fine year -- especially your inspiring win over the top seed.

Garbo played in the GOJHL before he went to BC. 53 games - 46g - 64a - 110 pts. Won the Cherrey & Sutherland Cups.

Well, yes, but such financial aid isn't classified as "Division I" and doesn't usually get "accepted" by the student ("awarded" to the student is more common), nor is the fact of such award relevant to athletics.
