>>>>> RIT TIGERS - Countdown to the Opening of the Gene Polisseni Center! <<<<<

Maybe he'll be the MacReynolds we've been missing since MacReynolds left.

Thompson tried to be that guy last year, but all he ended up doing was making dangerous hits and getting tossed out of games...not quite the difference maker that TMac was.

I think we'll all be happy if he likes to play a little physical and hang in front of the net poking home rebounds. We've missed those guys who grind and and are happy getting the ugly goals. At times the past few seasons it has seemed that "highlight reel" goals were the only ones that mattered.

Perhaps somebody who has seen him play can comment on his style.

Yeah, Mikowski is a big guy... and a Western New Yorker, high scorer, team player and not afraid to take a penalty. In his bio he says "...looking forward to playing Canisius this season." Yup... I'll bet he is. :)

Thanks for posting these.
Fight: Yup, Max can beat the crap out of someone.
Game Highlights: A little slow (probably due to size) but shows some hustle.
Penalty Shot: Not impressive
I know it's not very fair to judge him based on some short videos, but I was hoping to be more impressed. We'll have to wait and see. :)

Wow he is a BIG guy. I think he will definitely play a role for us that we've been lacking.

Yeah, his skating seemed a bit un-enthusiastic. I'm willing to bet his hockey awareness gets him the points we see in his stats. I hope Wilson manages to light a fire under him.

If you can't tell.. I'm getting excited for the upcoming season. I decided to watch the high-light reel from last years game against Michigan. Some takeaways

- Holy cow, our defense can't position themselves to save their lives.
- God, Ruby couldn't position himself to save his life either.
- Some offensive flash. It's still there, but how can you expect to win games with 6 goals against?

Yeah, I'm pretty excited too. I think that the new players will play a significant role in turning our Tigers around. Also, enthusiasm about the new rink will most likely nearly fill the arena for early games in the season. If the new players/experienced players turn our team around, this could be a season to remember for all the right reasons. If the team is still in last year's rut, fan interest and attendance will dwindle as the season rolls on. I am optimistic, however, and feel that we will have an above average season at the least.

Did we ever figure out why that goal was disallowed?

I think it would be appropriate to start the regular season thread on 9/18 which is the day of the Polisseni Center ribbon cutting & building dedication... title: "RiT Tigers... Gene Polisseni Center Inaugural Season". What does everyone else think?

I think you're overthinking it. =)

Yeah, when I think about it, I'm probably over-thinking it. :D

I don't think the puck ever crossed the line. My memory seems to recall even the goal judge admitted he made a mistake. I think it glanced of the puck and behind the goaltender and never crossed the line. There was no much of an argument from RIT. We have to take their word for it as I never saw an over head angle.

Yeah there a defense man in particular there who had a bad night, who was not near the top of my list. Ruby should have been pulled in the first. I normally agree with most of Wayne Wilson's move, but that night I think he made a mistake. Not that it was Ruby's fault, but I really think Wayne should have pulled him. The softie he gave up with a minute left in the second was a killer...

The theme from the Jeffersons "movin on up ... deluxe apartment in the sky" keeps running through my head, but the Polisseni doen't have sky boxes. ;-)

Actually, something like "The Polisseum, just like the Ritter only more of us" would work tieing the new and the old together.

Whatever is done, just remember the ">>>>> .... <<<<<" highlighting. That's kind of become our signature, plus it sure makes the thread stand out when your scanning the list.

I like it... much better than my idea!
