In Rochester, we shovel and go about our business. It's so bad here that RIT is going to the Milford Ice Pavilion for an afternoon practice.

9-0-1 in league play on the road is pretty insane. But after seeing the highlights of a lot of the away games and the youth hockey arenas some of these teams play in makes me think they really get up to play at RIT! Anyways, team is scoring a lot of goals and their total goals now is pretty up there overall and 2nd to RMU for Atlantic Hockey. Such great young talent we have!

Tigers are playing well but the next two weekends will confirm that this team is going to be a force to be feared on the ice and into the play-offs.

Coach said as much last weekend. He said it's tough sometimes to play in those dead arenas, but with RIT fans louder than home fans it helps. And he also said opposing teams do seem more energized at the GPC.

Reading the Box Score indicated 97 people in attendance.... That set me off on looking at attendance numbers, it looks like RIT and then Air Force do the best in AH with attendance, Army and Mercyhurst not so bad and then it trails off quite a bit...

I certainly hope the ECAC is in RIT's future (my not so scientific thought ...Notre Dame leaves Hockey East to go wherever...Quinny goes to Hockey East...RIT slots into ECAC). I can dream...

That 97 number is actually inflated (with I assume season ticket holders). They actually took a count on the radio that came to around 43 in the stands. That was about half RIT fans and players not dressed.

Last week we got a vote in the poll. This week, nada.

I think it's the only hope, when the Big Ten Conference realignment was going on anyone who seemed to be in any position at RIT to make a conference change happen seemed to have Tunnel vision on the ECAC. Now the ECAC would be my number 1 choice (with a plan to elevate all sports to D-I, but that's another old discussion). However I think it would be wise to be open to other possibility, I think there will be another game a musical chairs coming soon and maybe a benefit to the program to move to a new conference...

If RIT is able to make it to the NCAAs year in and year out in the AHC I would vote as a fan to stay. Although I wouldn't mind going to the Big Ten conference over the ECAC.

I agree with your first sentence, but your second one is baffling. You'd rather play in a league with enormous out-of-state state schools than one with in-state peer institutions that we already compete against in other sports?

I'm pretty confident that AIC does not have 30+ season ticket holders. Most likely they just counted tickets sold for the game, and then half the people decided not to bother showing up.

In non-RIT AHC news, Mercyhurst announecd a press conference today. Sounds like they are expanding/renovating their rink.
Big Media News Conference announced for 11 am at the Mercyhurst Ice Center. #NewsAlert #Expansion.

What's the benefit of moving to another league?

Other than playing in front of bigger crowds and possibly better competition, what do the Tiger's have to gain from it?

With a better conference comes better recruits, more national attention, and better home attendance against more recognizable opponents.

While it may be harder to get to the NCAA tourney via autobid, this could be offset in part by higher strength of schedule for getting an at large bid.

Just watched the highlights posted on facebook of the Saturday game. Man it has to be a bit disheartening to play for some of these teams that draw virtually no crowd (and more RIT fans to boot!). I mean you don't expect to playing in front of thousands many games in college, except at RIT and some of the bigger schools but if not for scholarships Sacred Heart, AIC and the like would probably not be able to recruit a Division I team I would think. I had bigger crowds at my high school hockey games than some of these teams get.

I think if any conference move were to be done, ECAC would be a logical choice. However, I'd stay right where we are - RIT has better chances of getting into the NCAA's and has had proven good success once there. I see Atlantic Hockey slowly getting better each year overall, enough so that maybe eventually the conference will be at more of a level playing field (probably never quite to the level of the perennial powerhouses such as BC, BU, Minn, North Dakota, etc but much more competitive with them).

Looks like more in the background upgrades, locker room and such. Nice to see someone step up with $250K. They need more money. Colleges always need more money than churches...

Big Ten is not happening, in fact that league can die for all I care. I see 3 possibilities.

1) A mention earlier, ECAC. ND leave Hockey East, and a team from the ECAC replaced Notre Dame in Hockey East. RIT than has a slot.
2) Another ECAC-ish possibility. Ivy league schools form their own league, leaving the Non Ivy league schools to form a conference with RIT and maybe other select schools from the AHA
3) A merger between unhappy schools stuck in the WCHA and the western POD of the AHA. This is not brought up a lot, but I think it could be a great solution for some teams that had no choice after the Big Ten caused conference swapping madness and the better side of the AHA to form a better league...
