Despite the injuries and recent record, I'm pretty excited for this weekend. I had to cancel my plans for Brick City earlier this year, so Saturday will probably be the only time I get to see them play in person (unless somehow the playoffs bring RIT back to CO Springs).

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2013-2014 - Rocking The Ritter One Last Time <<<<<

I agree, Wilson has obviously done a lot of good regarding recruiting in the past. His over all record with RIT shows it. It's not just one little thing that has brought this disastrous season on us, but it definitely seems like the "perfect storm" of awful seasons. With the expected up-tick in performance following the FF run not realizing, almost everyone in the AHA getting more competitive, attendance numbers slipping, and closing the door on the Ritter sooner than expected, it's easy to get frustrated.

edit: how can I forget? the injuries :(

I would add that the economic downturn has not helped either. No scholarships means that players have to pay some of the tuition to a fairly expensive school.

I think there is a good group on offense returning. Garbo, Skirving, Schular in particular.

Are we expecting anyone to come back from injury that may help in a playoff push? (I shouldn't get hopeful)

Yes. Colavecchia should be playing this week. I believe Coach said he was cleared to play Saturday but he was kept out to give him five more days to recover and practice.

Garbowski's return has always been targeted at the end of February. I would be surprised to see him at Air Force, but not surprised to see him play vs Canisius. I would be surprised if he didn't play the first round of the playoffs.

Anybody want to calculate where the first round play-off location is going to be?

MY guess would be Niagara

The good news is Army can't catch us!

The Tigers can't finish any worse than 11th! Whooppee!:(
And now they are officially in 11th place with only three games left. The highest they can get mathematically (but not realistically) is 7th place. Oh how far they've fallen!
I'm not one of those calling for the coaches to be fired or anything (I'll leave decisions like that up to people who know a whole lot more than I do), but I will say that SOMETHING needs to change and SOON. A couple more seasons like the last two and suddenly there's a "culture of losing" like we've never seen here before. And that kind of thing just keeps feeding off of itself.
For those who keep continually bringing up the point that "... other teams in the AHA have gotten better..." as an excuse for why it is so much more difficult for RIT to succeed, PLEASE PLEASE stop it. That is NO EXCUSE. If those around you are improving, then you need to improve as well or you're actually getting worse.
Also, while it is true the team has had a good number of injuries to some key players, we really need to keep things in perspective. This team wasn't all that good WITH all of those players in the lineup. Probably not an 11th place team, but probably only marginally better than the 2012-13 team if even that good. So although those guys are RIT's best players, let's be honest they're not exactly Tanev, Ringwald, Lambert, Smith, Burt, Brenner, or Favot.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2013-2014 - Rocking The Ritter One Last Time <<<<<

"We're just not tired of losing yet, I guess. Well, I am, but..."
-Coach Wayne Wilson

I think that says it all.
The leaders of this team need to hand over the torch and let someone who gives a crap take over before they don't care about winning either.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2013-2014 - Rocking The Ritter One Last Time <<<<<

I'm baffled. Previously Coach has taken positives from a well played game; lamented the missed opportunities, yes, but has often said he was happy with the performance even in a loss.

It seemed like we played well but he wasn't happy for some reason.

Even though there are only three games left, it's still too close to call. Holy Cross, Niagara, Canisius. Could be any of them.
Does it really matter at this point? Even if they make a push and actually upset one of those teams on the road, that will likely earn them a trip to Mercyhurst in round 2. Good luck with that.

I think he made it pretty clear why he wasn't happy. Attitude problems on the team. As the radio guys were just discussing, there are upperclassmen on this team (the supposed leaders who started their careers here under pretty solid leaders back in 2010-11) who just don't seem to want to do the things it takes to win, are soft playing 5-on-5, and don't really seem all that bothered when they lose.
This season can't end soon enough. Whomever the rotten apples are need to graduate and get the **** out of that room before whatever is wrong with them rubs off on the future leaders of this team. There is some real promise from the sophomores and freshmen this season. I'd hate to see it wasted... again.

Well......even though it's been a rough year, I'll make the trip down to Worchester to watch them play.

Yeah, I thought that was confusing too. I guess he's just grown tired of nursing them along after so many losses. Frankly, I would have thought we would have heard these comments from him much earlier in the season. Didn't we all grow tired of losing a long time ago?

I'm sure he's made those type of comments in the locker room this year, but the message apparently isnt sinking in. There are players playing hard for the team, but their efforts are being wasted by others not playing as hard. While I agree with the radio announcers NOT calling out players who are not playing hard, I applaud them for recognizing the players that do. If you noticed, most of them were underclassmen.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2013-2014 - Rocking The Ritter One Last Time <<<<<

Schedule details from the radio crew:

28 league games next year (vs 27 this year). 6 non-conference games (vs 7 this year).
Each team plays eight other teams thrice, the remaining two teams twice. Those teams have already been determined by lottery.

RIT's 6 non-conference games for 2014-15:
* Boston College at BCA
* St. Lawrence / Clarkson at Polisseni (not sure which will be Friday opponent; they're also visiting Niagara)
* at Yale
* at Mariucci Classic with Minnesota, UMass Lowell, and Merrimack

Exhibition game is first weekend in October.

First Polisseni Center game is the women's game on the last weekend in September.

GREAT effort tonight.... firing on all 8 cylinders. Congrats to the Tigers on a great win... well done!

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2013-2014 - Rocking The Ritter One Last Time <<<<<

We've talked a lot about injuries and their affect on the team. I think this weekend is a good example.

Colevecchia was out for a little bit..he came back this weekend. He had an impact in both, tallying 3 total points on 3 assists and being a +1 cumulative. Tonight in victory he was a +3.

Adam Mitchell was out for a long, long time and after a few games back is getting his skates back under him. He had a goal as well.

Considering how we were playing going into this series, a split at Air Force has to be considered a huge success. Both games were close, which is typical for these two teams but this year given the standings, it says a lot that RIT was able to hang with them Friday and win Saturday.

If we get Garbowsky back for the playoffs, I want to believe we can put some teams on upset alert. This case only improves if Perron-Fontaine also comes back to solidify the blue line.

If we can get Garbowsky back by next weekend, there is a good chance we can sweep Canisius college. What are the odds of him coming back?

Last night coach said that 2 weeks ago, Garbowsky had the cast removed and was told 4 weeks until he can play again. I wouldn't expect to see him in the lineup vs Canisius.
