Apologies if this has been mentioned, but I don't remember it. Looks like we're getting a hometown boy next season!

Looks like a pretty good pickup.

They can't slap RIT for anything. It's just some individual not associated with RIT livestreaming games from his TV. There's a number of ways to do that with relatively cheap equipment. RIT is in no way associated with it, so there's no legal grounds to punish them.

Loose lips sink ships as the saying goes......the less people speak of this, the more likely it is that this kind sole can continue on with their community service.

Merry Christmas everyone and a happy new year!

This week's episode of SportsZone is outstanding. It's all hockey this week: the Sacred Heart series, Movember, equipment manager Jeff Siegel, and the women's championship ring ceremony.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

Random thing I noticed in having a conversation with a friend. We were discussing the team this year and I was trying to find some defense for their struggles, so I decided to compare the team with the 08-09 year (the freshman year of the class that just graduated). That year at this time we were 8-9-1 (17 pts, played 18 games and were 6-9-1 [13 pts] through 16), currently we have played 16 games and are 4-8-4 (12 pts). That shows that they are relatively comparable, and after the break that team went 13-2-1 during the regular season (15-2-1 after playing 16 games). So, not to say we haven't looked bad at times, but we have struggled similarly as bad before and rebounded well and that was the class that these freshman are replacing.

Tl;dr: there is hope, we have rebounded astonishingly well before off a bad start similar to the current one we had.

The optimism is great. But don't get your hope TOO high. The AHA is a lot tougher now than what it was back then. I would like to think that this team can pull out a good run, but it remains to be seen.

Merry Christmas everybody. A little quiet here today.

"The AHA is a lot tougher now than what it was back then."

Looking at this weekends AHA schedule, with Canisius at home playing Army 2x, and since both teams are ahead of us, can we agree that a split would be in the best interest of RIT? Army is playing the Russian Junior National team (whom I know nothing about) this Thursday and then Canisius Saturday and Sunday (3 games in 4 nights), so it wouldn't surprise me if Canisius took 3 of 4 points, I'd be surprised if Army took 3 of 4 or swept.

It's a pretty big series for both teams. Army still needs to prove it belongs in the top 4 of the AHA this year and a Canisius sweep would put them right up there too. I'd agree the best option for RIT is a split. But I wouldn't mind an Army sweep, either. Canisius already beat us in our own building this year, but I'm still not particularly afraid of Army from what I've seen of them.

If TWCS Rochester brought in their own people and equipment to do a game at Ritter, it'd look just fine over A1, since they don't

I never thought I'd see an equipment manager get more press than Sabres long time Equipment manager Rip Simonick, but Jeff is coming close, outstanding!!

Trail is apparently a town in BC. So the question is.....what's a 'Smoke Eater'??

Still 7 and a wakeup day till the next game.

The problem isn't the equipment. The games all air in HD on TimeWarner.

For RIT to move up, they will need splits by a bunch of teams ahead of them. I would not be surprised if Army and Canisius split, tho in pickem I took a Canisius sweep because I don't know which game they would win.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

If RIT puts on a decent 2nd half the Tigers will host a first round series, if they put on a streak like they have in years past they still have a shot at grabbing a 1st round bye. Now that is not going to be easy, even though I expect Army to come down to earth Bentley will be hard to catch given the uneven pod schedule. RIT could really use a sweep when they face Bentley at the Ritter in a two weeks. If they can pull that off they could wind up as high a 5th with much of the meat of league play still on the table.

If this team can continue their better defensive play and get (and STAY) healthy they are right in the thick of things, they may have to play an extra playoff round, but this team is still capable of making it to Blue Cross...

Army's next eight games are against Western Pod teams so if tradition hold true, this will be a critical stretch for the Cadets.

It might be early to talk NCAA Tournament but is it a foregone conclusion that Atlantic Hockey only sends it's BCA champion to the NCAA Tournament? Say Niagara goes undefeated in AHA play with only three ties (to RIT) and then loses to a mid-pack team in the BCA final. Does it make sense not to give Niagara an at large bid? If that's the case why stress your team to finish in the top four to get that bye? It's a slippery slope.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

It would depend greatly on who eliminates Niagara from the tournament and what that teams PWR is. I imagine if any AHA team beats Niagara in the tournament, their ranking would drop just enough to take away their at large bid.

Even if it's a team they already have a 3-0 record against? One loss doesn't mean any more in the tourney than it does in the regular season, as far as PWR is concerned.

Don't look now, but as of right now, Robert Morris' win over Miami has vaulted them to 13th in the Pairwise. They also are 4-2-2 vs. teams under consideration. 10 games vs. TUC are required for that metric to be considered.

Would love to see a second team come out of the AHA, if only just to break the ice to show the rest of the leagues that AHA teams are competing at the same level.
