Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

Yeah, the play ended up in the net, but his cross blueline pass with the opponent lurking results in an opponent's breakaway far more often than any kind of offensive chance. RIT needs to learn how to play with a lead.

Wayne Wilson mentioned that play in the radio postgame show. He noted that the player (whom he did not mention by name) had stayed on the ice past the end of his unit's shift and made a pass that is not part of their game plan.

Just as an FYI... I am pretty sure that Ciamaga is no longer an NHL official (no matter the lockout). I sure we all know why.

I happened to hit record just as they scored the last goal

I thought Coach was talking about the play that led to the shortie, but jflory was talking about immediately after the shortie, on a play that led to our fifth goal.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

I'm shocked it wasn't a 5:00 and a game. I just looked at the replay of it and I think it was more to the front and a bit up and under. It was a two-hander to the grille.

Here's what the rulebook says:

SECTION 8. A player shall not target and make contact with an opposing player’s head or neck area in any manner (including, but not limited to, with the shoulder, stick, elbow, etc.).

PENALTY—Major and game misconduct or disqualification at the discretion of the referee.
The committee reminds coaches and players that the responsibility remains with the player making the hit to avoid contact with the head and neck area of an opposing player.

Any contact which directly targets the player’s head and neck area must be penalized with a major penalty and a game misconduct or disqualification.

(Emphasis mine.)

You guys ever thought about adding a 'referee interview' segment to your post-game? Wonder how that would go over? :p

Looked like another baby step in the right direction ... let's hope it continues on Weds. Maybe then ...

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

Another pretty good game. Again, it's hard to take too much away from a win against Sacred Heart, but we certainly made it clear we are a lot better team than them.

I was pretty impressed with Kuqali this weekend, and Brownell is quietly one of our most solid defenders. Watson looked sharp and, I think, continued to make a case for himself as #1 and hopefully he starts against Niagara.

I think Wednesday will be a good barometer for where we are. Playing an undefeated team on the road is never going to be easy, but if we can hang tough and make a game out of it, that would be a very good sign going into the holiday break.

A win wednesday would be awesome. I'm NOT expecting it :p , but it's definitely doable (Michiagan game)

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

We needed to get 2 wins this weekend and we did. I was hoping for more convincing wins. I was also hoping we could hold Sacred Heart to one goal or less per game, but at least we won by more than one goal in each game. So I guess I can hold out a little hope that our season can have a decent ending.
The highlights of the weekend for me was the emergence of several of the freshman (which we desperately needed) and seeing Adam Hartley find the net.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

Totally agree that it's hard to say that RIT is back to where we expect them to be because of the quality, or rather lack thereof, of the competition. That they dominated for long stretches of the weekend certainly is a good sign. I have to agree that Kuqali and Brownell were especially good from defense. The still need to work on some of the D to D passes as they nearly gave up another breakaway.

"What the #$%# were you thinking on that hooking call in the second period?"

Exactly ... SportsCenter could have a daily top 10 of the best questions asked to officials and their responses. It could add a whole new dimension to sports; seems like an "innovation" that should come from WITR 89.7. ;)

Great sweep. A much needed sweep especially heading to NU on Wednesday.
Time to start winning at Dwyer arena.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2012-2013 - Locked, Loaded, And Ready To Roar <<<<<

Good solid 4pts this weekend. While I still think there is a lot of improvement to be made, the Tigers did what they needed to do and in pretty good fashion.

It's tough to tell if RIT has started to turn the corner and playing like we thought they could since SHU is so bad.

One thing I think is clear now is Watson should be the starter. He was certainly the better of the two these past couple of weeks.

Ruby's only action on the last couple weeks was game 1 against Sacred Heart. I thought he had a solid game, and made some very impressive saves. I thought Watson was a little more shaky this weekend. He seemed to not firmly hold the puck a couple times, instead opting to drop and cover.

I think they both looked good, but in the end Ruby did nothing to improve his standing compared to Watson who has outplayed him all year. Even this past weekend, the stat lines are better for Watson. Given that Ruby has had 1 good game (against a bad, bad team) and Watson has had a number of good games (against decent/good teams) it's pretty clear who should be playing our conference games.
