To big of a PR game for the RIT not to win. Hundreds of people that normally don't see RIT or at least not regularly and a new arena needing funding....I am pretty sure that winning on Saturday night helps with a lot of positive PR.

During first intermission, the TV coverage included an interview with Dr Watters regarding the status of the new arena. The school is in discussion with a "group" regarding naming rights for the new arena and expect to have an announcment before the end of the year. Given 6+ months of design time, they would anticipate shovels in the ground next fall.

The misconduct or DQ comes automatically with any 5 minute major penalty like that one. The "antics" had nothing to do with it.

I should have worded my original post a bit differently. I am not sure his elbow deserved a major, but I am guessing his mouthing off, slamming his stick, and generally acting like a child certainly got him the major if the ref was on the fence about calling it one. Either way he got what he deserved.

Saw that interview, and I thought he stated that it while possible it would be difficult to start construction in 2012.

This is actually an old article - that donation was announced back in April. But agreed, a win certainly can't hurt the push for a new arena (as well as selling it out two years in a row).

Whoops!

While the pay differential will suck, this is probably the best for his long term development. More minutes and a better chance to develop his Offensive game. With the Canucks he was pretty much limited to being pure defense. Given the length of the season, I'm sure he'll be their first injury callup.

I'm wasn't shocked that Shane started on Saturday. The best way to send home 10,556 fans home happy is to play your #1 goalie and not your #2 or #3. I'm sick of hearing about starting a #2 or #3 goalie in OOC games. Those are the harder games RIT has to play so why not play the #1 goalie. When your consistently a top contender in your conference you want to be able to give you #1 experience with harder competition for NCAAs. Let #2 and #3 play the bottom-half of the conference to give them experience.

In some ways I agree with you on this point. Playing your #1 goalie will give you a better chance of winning OOC and getting you key points in the RPI and Pairwise Rankings. On the flip side, I always feel the conference games are most inportant and we need to win those. That said, I expect we will see one of Watson or Ruby this weekend if not both.

Let me know if you need any tips (dining, sightseeing, etc.) Went to the BCA for the tournament a few years ago and really enjoyed Rochester.

My friends and I have 2 quick questions! Would you advise against visiting fans getting tickets in the general admission corner? And when abouts would you recommend getting to the game by to ensure ~5 people can get seats together in GA?

The corner you're referring to is actually the reserved seating section.

I think it's more likely one of them gets the start in Buffalo, then Madolora starts Saturday vs Union.

I think jgRIT is talking about Cadet Ice Arena, not the Ritter.

Depends. GA is on the goal-line (where my season tix are--not bad seats actually) and the current GA section is JJ--the end where RIT will shoot twice. There really aren't "corners" (seating is down both sides of the rink, with an elevated walkway with standing-room over the ends).

Half an hour early should be plenty, unless there's a huge turnout for some strange reason (discounted tickets, etc.). We're usually there for pre-game warmups 40 minutes prior to face-off and there are tons of empty seats.

Re: >>>>> RIT Tigers 2011-2012 <<<<< Dreaming is Done, Time to ROAR

What makes you think that?

Well Canisius is pretty terrible this year, and we've had good luck against them in recent past. Not a bad choice to give Ruby or Watson some playing time.

Also, a tie or win against Union would do wonders for our PWR, so we should approach OOC games very seriously.

Realistically, I know in conference games are important, but you can't just hope to win the AHA tournament (we've only done it once so far). With a good PWR RIT could qualify for an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament.

It's real hard to get a good PWR when the AHA as a conference does poorly OOC.

Right, but if we are talking realistically, then PWR is out of the question anyways. Play to win in conference, it's what Wilson does.

At the end of last season our PWR was below 20, and not that far from getting us a bid. We're currently sitting at 13 (I know, it's still early), but if we can take a tie or another OOC win, and have a decent in conference season, our PWR would be pretty good.

The ultimate goal is to win the NCAAs. The easiest way to do that is to win your conference. Barring that you need to win OOC games. AHA has sent two teams once(Air Force and Holy Cross) they could always do it again and RIT would probably be the most likely to be the second team. As of right now Shane in net for OOC games is RIT's best chance to win. If RIT can even be in the RPI and PWR discussion by the end of the season I'll be happy, granted I'd be happier if RIT made the NCAAs be winning the conference but still.

Oh yes we can! RIT will never at an at large bid for the NCAA in the AHA. Wilson knows this, our only chance is to win the AHA Tournament. That is why he likes to devolop players in OOC games and I agree with it. Its nice to be ranked but in the end it only matters if we win the AHA.

INCH named Burt its national player of the week. http://insidecollegehockey.com/inch/2011/10/17/first-shift_1003/

Did anyone notice when Burt skated out to take his 1st star bow Saturday night. Seemed to me the look on his face wasn't one of basking in the glory as much as just soaking it all in. Looked like he realizes this is his last go-round as a Tiger and he wants to enjoy every last bit of it.
