Whoever comes out of the Niagara/RoMo series is going to be scary with that momentum. Both very good teams.

I think RIT should be all set against Bentley. We swept them in their building this year, so I don't see why we can't expect the same at Ritter.

I think they weren't listed because the teams weren't decided yet. I think I'll wait until BCA though to watch the games and just listen in on WITR next week.

I'm rooting for RIT :D

Sure, but it would be great to not have to deal with a team we've never beaten at BCA or team we haven't beaten at the D1 level.

They have been on sale to the general public since last Wednesday. Last Monday and Tuesday season ticket holders got first shot. I only know this because I am a season ticket holder and get emailed by the school, otherwise I don't know how well it has been advertised.

From the email I received:
At 12 noon on Wednesday February 29th, tickets will be available to all tiger hockey fans. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Gordon Field House Box Office, calling 585-475-4121 or to purchase general admission tickets go to ticketmaster.com.

As a Bentley person, I know I was very excited to see RIT as our possible opponent, and despite the scare from SHU, I've been looking forward to a rematch with the Tigers since you guys came to our place. It'll be very different since the game's up there rather than at home, but this goaltending matchup should be fantastic.

I can only hope these two games live to the billing from the first time around, since Komm and Madolora went head-to-head and had two solid games. For Bentley people, we've been hoping for another crack at RIT since it presents an interesting matchup with a couple of potential advantages for both teams, especially since your rink is more conducive to our athleticism than ours is (then again, our rink isn't conducive to anything. Except leaking water. It's great at doing that).

You're probably the first fan from an opposing team looking forward to playing at Ritter... Hopefully, it'll be a good series.

In all honesty, our players and our atmosphere is so conducive to feeling like it's a road game that the team might not be as intimidated as others. You guys brought a great vibe to the rink earlier this year, and even though our fans got into it, that was before everything really started turning on our end.

Your rink is also substantially wider and longer than the JAR. Our neutral zone might as well be the size of a mite's rink, which killed us against SHU. I like the thought of a backs to the wall series firing up the Bentley guys.

Do I think we'll win this series? The fan in me says cautiously yes, but the realism in me says probably not. But I also think it's going to be a great series both ways. I'm really looking forward to it.

That said, now that I said that, with my luck.... we'll lose 8-0 and 7-0. Which you guys would love haha. :D

I've been in the JAR several times (unfortunately) and it is 200x85, thus Ritter (185x85) is not wider nor longer. So if the Falcons have trouble with condensed zone sizes then they very well might have those same problems this weekend.

Re: >> RIT Tigers 2011-12 Part II: Making Some Noise at the House that Roars <<

In a way I am glad RIT gets Bentley. They are a team RIT usually does well against, even though the games were tough last time they played. Of the three teams RIT could have faced, RIT had the best record this year against the Falcons. That confidence can only help the Tigers. Also, it puts Robert Morris against Niagara. I could see that as a possible upset.

Why I was saying last week that the 1 point weekend may actually be a good thing, because now RIT face Bentley instead of Robert Morris. With respect to Bentley, I do not think they will be push overs, but I think RIT matches up better against Bentley much more favorable then they do against RMU...

If our rink is 200x85, then someone's a miracle worker. Although the corners did look bigger this year.

Just for discussion's sake, where are the matchup advantages for RIT to exploit? I know Bentley will try to get fast on the defense and use cross-ice passes through the defense. That's something RIT prevented really well in the first meeting (hence the need for wide surfaces). They do it to get the goalie off balance, something that probably won't happen against Madolora.

The other place Bentley liked to shoot from is outside the hashes in the circles. They have a couple of snipers on the team, especially (obviously) Gensler, but then again, Madolora is not exactly a bad goalie. Not like some of the unfortunate meatwads we've seen int he eastern pod.

I know exactly what you mean...I've been in several rinks that you'd swear were smaller but they are actually 200x85. I think sometimes the seating config or the shape of the seating sections can make the ice size look screwy.

Local government says it is 200x85:

We have to trust the government, right? ;-)

These upcoming games are going to be interesting. Both teams have excellant goaltending. I'm not sure how much the extra game will affect Bentley physically, but I'm sure the time off definately helped RIT. Home ice will be clearly an advantage for RIT, as they did not lose a conference game at home all year (a decent amount of ties, though).

I think the time off has to have been huge for RIT as the bye coincided with exam week and with break this week, they can focus primarily on hockey.
