No lie, I was just looking up ticket prices for Buffalo to Seattle/Seattle to Anchorage. lol

Fan bus trip? :p

In other news, I was just at Ritter and saw a new Zweigle's cart in the southeast corner (near the men's room).

I know this season is just starting, but I found an article about next season already. It looks like RIT will be headed up north to Alaska to participate in the Kendall Hockey Classic with Alaska Anchorage, Alaska Fairbanks, and North Dakota.

http://newsminer.com/news/2009/oct/19/ccha-play-ahead-alaska-nanooks/

Also, (correct me if I am wrong), but I don't think these count towards our 34 game limit. NCAA is trying to get teams to go up to Alaska to play, so they don't count towards the limit. This means we will still have 28 AHA games (if that number doesn't change with the addition of Niagara and RMU) and the potential for 6 other OOC games.

You are correct unless the rule has changed to disallow the game exemption for the Kendall Hockey Classic. The rule about game exemption was brought up on the boards at one point but I can't think which thread it was in.

OK so who wants to go on that road trip?

If we book now we could get some good deals on airfare.

I'm seriously pumped about the Zweigel's cart!

I just hope it doesn't displace the Ben & Jerry's cart.

As close as Air Force and RIT have been with each other down the stretch the last couple of years, picking up anything more than a split this weekend could make the difference in deciding the conference championship in February. Are the Tigers up to the challenge on the road this weekend?

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

I was thinking (shocking, I know)... RIT should pony up some bills and pay for a b2 subscription. Then, they should project the games somewhere on campus to allow RIT Hockey fans to watch all of the away games as well. It'd be nice to watch the game with other RIT fans and cheer on our team.

Does anyone else feel the same way?

If so, does anyone know what we need to do to make this a reality?

It's an idea that I have tossed around between a few other people. I usually get B2 feeds for away games, and watch with friends, but outside of that, I don't know how many people would be interested. It is free and not too hard to rent an auditorium like Webb or just a classroom which have projectors in them (although we may need ETC to turn them on). It is very do-able, but there needs to be some demand for it. I am not really sure of the best way to gauge interest, promote, etc.

I had tossed around the idea with the Ritz SportsZone a few times, but after I got the service once I dropped the idea. (I didn't think the service was very good) A B2 season is pass isn't that expensive if you put your money together, or if you work with Athletics they might be willing to part with one of their complimentary pass codes. I would think the dorms would be a good spot; there's also a classroom in the SLC with a projector.

Afterthought:
Res Life or RHA might be willing to chip in for a season pass if you make a structured program of it -- heck, you could even still tailgate a little too. :)

It's really hit or miss based on the team. Air Force and Army usually have good feeds, with schools like AIC and Sacred Heart having lesser quailty video. Its all dependent on the cameras used (I would imagine RIT's feed is good too). Projecting some of the lower quality feeds might be pretty bad.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

This week’s thoughts and Tidbits.
As you may know I was at both Clarkson and Saint Lawrence games last weekend. I am going to start by playing a bit of agreeing and disagreeing game with Coach Wilson.

“We took another positive step forward from last season. We picked up our play in the third period, did plenty of good things, but we have to put the puck in the net. We played really well, ran into a hot goaltender, and did not win the game.” Said Coach after the STL game.

I thought after the Colgate game they deserved to win. After the STL game I knew they deserved to win. They out played the Saints from the get go, however finish was absent again. Give Moss a ton of credit. You don’t make 41 saves in a game by accident. But he never really robbed anyone. RIT put some good shots on him, but also missed the net on some great chances. Too many chances were not cashed in and that was the difference on the weekend. They might have even out chance Clarkson.

How much do you miss Kharin and Crowell right about now. People thought that lack of scholarships would hurt RIT recruiting at the D-I level. That really has not happen as we have had some great recruits come in. The dirty little secret though is that no Scholarships have hurt RIT in retaining players. Menard, Kharin, and Crowell all players that graduated last year and would have had to pay a lot of money to get into a masters program. If they had a scholarship they may have done it.

DeMike did not play well against Clarkson in my opinion. I am not pinning the loss on him but he has to play better, and he will be fine.

Big question is who is going to score the goals this year? And so far we are still looking. Burt did get going against Clarkson. Need Brenner though to get going. Need Smith or Potts to get hot too.
Need a spilt this weekend at Air Force, I have the Tigers doing their Colorado tradition of losing the first game and finding away to win the second game.

Today Play List

The Pretenders – My City Was Gone
Tom Petty – You Don’t Know How It Feels
The Ramones - Blitzkrieg Bop
Genesis – That’s All

Actually I think it was an Air Force game... it was partly the camera work and partly being dropped 10 million times (and I was watching from the RIT library). I just emailed ETC for their thoughts; I think it's worth trying at least for Air Force this weekend... I would think an email or facebook posting from the corner crew would net a decent turnout. Much as I think the dorms is a better and more comfortable option (could project in the Gracie's lobby you know -- lots of nice chairs -- or even hook up a computer to that TV), the SLC classroom is also neutral turf for apartment residents. I'll spring for the first game if you guys are willing to try it Friday... Saturday is a women's game but it's mountain time so it won't conflict.

Read the b2 user agreement before you advertise this. Usually subscription agreements are for personal use; otherwise you erode their revenue stream.

Oh I am sure there are no electronic agreements being broken on the campus of RIT

We seem to ask that question every year. Last year Sarazin stepped up and the year before that it was Matt Smith. Hopefully someone can pick up their game this year and fill in for those gaps in production.

As much as I am missing Sarazin and Crowell up front I am really missing Raymond on the blue line. I know everyone talks about Ringwald but I always felt Raymond was the best defensemen on the team the last couple of years.

And what happened to Knowles and Cornacchia? They both put up big numbers in junior and was hoping at least one of them could continue that production here. Maybe it's too early to write them off but Knowles especially just seems to be fighting the puck and doesn't look comfortable out there. I wanna see some production out of those two :)

Just saw this on facebook:

Join SportsZone on October 30th as we get pumped for RIT Hockey to host UConn!

-Live Band
-$7 Garbage Plates

-Trivia
-Free Raffles

GIVEAWAYS:
SZ T-shirts
RIT Tigers memorabilia
Signed hockey sticks

This is for a 'tailgate' at Lovin' Cup...Is this replacing the RITz tailgates? That seems kind of stupid to me. I know the RITz tailgates are not that popular, but this is further away from Ritter, and it just seems like a bad idea to me.
