Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

Too many songs now. You get like 45 seconds of each one not sure what the point is. I thought 7 worked well. I could actually make a play list and listen to most of it on the way to the game :)

Though I have yet to make it early enough to a game this year to hear the warm up so maybe it works well and I am talking out of my *** :)

I agree. I've also liked the song selection the past 2 years more than this year. I especially liked last year when the last song they played was 'Welcome to the Jungle'. It got me excited for the game.

On another note, is anyone else going to the Clarkson game this Saturday? It's their family weekend and it's sold out, so I know I'm going to be one bit of orange in a sea of yellow and green. I'm even going with a Clarkson fan. We have a bet(that I lost last year)- loser has to wear the winners hat to all family functions for a year. I really hope we win; the Clarkson hat is hideous, I don't want to wear it anymore!

Few tidbit opinions to throw out there:

It was a very tough loss against Colgate cause it came down to a lucky bounce, a miscue on a line change, and a post.

  1. The second goal was just a lucky bounce, went of a skate right to Austin Smith. DeMike brushed into a Colgate as he tried to make the save, but unless he had inspector gadget arms he wasn't going to make the save and I didn't see enough for a call there.
  2. There was five player who made the difference on the game winning. Burt, Haltigin, Austin Smith (Colgate), and two players on the RIT bench who were coming on the ice for the line change. All four RIT guys looked like they saw the puck, and all had the same thought don't touch it we will get a too many men on the ice penalty. Its just one of those things that never happen, great read by Smith to take advantage of the situation. One more thing, if we are going to win a game like that, DeMike needs to make one more big save...
  3. God it was tough to see Hartley hit that post at the end. A goal you really like to see a freshman score.

An ugly 1-9 start for Atlantic Hockey last weekend. Only Canisius scoring a win thanks to a 58 save shutout by Dan Morrison, expect him to be the number one guy over Lowen this year. There was good games out there, but you would like a few more wins.

I over heard a Mercyhurst scout this week talking about how dissapointed they were in Ryan Zapolski goaltending in Alaska this past weekend. All though looking at the stats sheet thats not surprising. Will have to keep an eye on him, if he struggles Mercyhurst could fall out of the three dog race the Atlantic is expected to have this year.

St. Lawrence is coming off a spilt last weekend with a 3-0 loss to Lowell and a 5-2 win over Army. Saint offense is working on being consitant this year. Good test for RIT to try and clamp down on them.

Clarkson was swept by Michigan St. last weekend. A 6-1 embarassment followed by a more respectable 4-3 loss. Clarkson outshot Michigan St. in both games. May be a great chance for the RIT offense to break out.

This weekend your looking for a spilt. We have talked about RIT never being swept by an Atlantic Hockey weekend. It time to take that the next level and take one of these ECAC games. There is no doubt that the talent there, this is not like the Cornell game at Blue Cross where your hoping to win, this team can win. I think they really need to get one with the big Air Force weekend lurking...

I will be making the travel to both games this weekend. I will try to have updates. I also have contact with the radio crew at Lake Superior were the Griffs will be playing this weekend.

Playlist for today with a theme for my road trip this weekend!

Meat Loaf - Objects in the Rear View Mirror May Appear Closer Than They Are

Rusted Root - Send me on my Way

Creed - Can You Take Me Higher??

Dion - The Wanderer

Tom Petty - Running Down a Dream

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

I just had a completely irrational notion that RIT was going to win tonight 5-2. I don't know where I got that number from and can't justify it. If RIT wins tonight I logically thing the score would be much closer because of playing on the road, etc. But I wanted to get the irrational prediction down where someone else could see it on the off chance it comes true.

So much for that prediction. However, it could have happened because it sounded (while the radio crew needs work) that Moss (SLU's goalie) made some good saves.

We outshot SLU 43-20. Their goalie stonewalled us for sure.

Was it stonewalling or did we shoot it right into him.

Is this the radio crew from now on?

No.

Neither Chris nor Scott nor I were available for this weekend. Since the radio gig is still an unpaid volunteer position (as opposed to TV), occasionally our own personal obligations necessarily get in the way. So Greg (the radio station manager) and Taylor (a member of the Tiger pep band), who also broadcast during WITR's tailgate broadcasts, stepped in.

Did anyone else notice that the D&C said Freshman Adam Hurley instead of Hartley?

Honestly, I just looked long enough to see that they gave us a whopping two paragraphs and moved on.

You do realize that they usually just get a feed for the road games. They don't send reporters on the road. The home games generally get much better stories from the paper.

Despite the depressing result of yesterday's game, I have to say I really enjoyed going to Cheel Arena. Of the away games I've been to, I've always felt underwhelmed by the atmosphere compared to the experience at home(especially when the handful of RIT fans who made the trip are out-shouting the home crowd). It was definitely interesting to get a taste of what the visitors get when they come to the Ritter. :p

What's really unfortunate is that you attended Cheel's most underwhelming game of the year as far as hostility goes. The student section gets dismantled for parents weekend, and students have to buy tickets to get in instead of getting in for free.

They don't send reporters to Syracuse away games, either, but manage to print more than a couple of paragraphs.

I know this season is just starting, but I found an article about next season already. It looks like RIT will be headed up north to Alaska to participate in the Kendall Hockey Classic with Alaska Anchorage, Alaska Fairbanks, and North Dakota.

Besides the North Dakota Fighting Sioux of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association, the Nanooks will also open the season next Oct. 8-9 in Anchorage against the Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology Tigers.

Kendall Hockey Classic host UAA will also play RIT and North Dakota.

Also, (correct me if I am wrong), but I don't think these count towards our 34 game limit. NCAA is trying to get teams to go up to Alaska to play, so they don't count towards the limit. This means we will still have 28 AHA games (if that number doesn't change with the addition of Niagara and RMU) and the potential for 6 other OOC games.

Awesome. Be good to see us play some other OOC games besides the usual suspects (clarkson, st lawrence etc)
