So according to Scott on the broadcast tonight, Burt and Favot are sitting tonight due to lack of hustle or some such. I find it hard to believe, honestly; if I had to name two Tigers who show hustle whenever they're out on the ice, it'd be those two. Very strange.

Burt's hustle has not been super productive of late. I don't know what the coach saw in Favot last night, but I trust Wilson's judgement.

I hate long winning streaks unless they are in the post season. Ultimately they come to an end and I would rather go through some struggles now than in the playoffs.

Maybe its a message to the rest of the forwards that they better start putting the puck in the net...

Some message. Instead we had chaos and no chemistry tonight. Congrats, RIT, you just lost to a two-win team.

The message wasn't for tonight. It was a warning for the future not to rest on their laurels.

Mercyhurst got swept by Sacred Heart but AFA picked up two wins against Bentley. That 4 game advantage is now down to 3...

We'll see how the boys come out next weekend. I can't imagine Wilson will be happy by the outcome of the weekend. If he was changing the line up this much when they won I can't imagine a lose is gonna make him too happy.

A. Well on track for a top 4 seed in the playoffs --- check.
B. Good enough to make a serious run at the NCAA berth --- check
C. Taught something last night by Coach Wilson that will make success in "B" more probable --- check (I hope!)

Things still look pretty darn good through my rose-colored glasses.

I expect that Burt and Favot will have a big weekend.

I bet the Madelora getting in the game was a plan from the start as long as they won Friday. I don't think we can hang the loss on him. He only allowed 2 goals. RIT SHOULD be able to score more than that. I wouldn't be surprised if he starts this Saturday against AIC so that DeMike will be fresh for the stretch run and the playoffs.

Well Uconn is one of the lowest scoring teams in D1 so why not put in the heir apparent for some reps? :) I don't believe Ropponan has gotten a start this year has he? Looks like the starting spot next year is Madelora's to lose unless the freshman goalie is an all star in the "pre-season" :)

So the rest of the players aren't smart enough to notice that two of the best are sitting and they need to take it up a notch?

The rest of you can spin this any way you want but it a sign that things are not well on that team. It's never a good when the coach has to sit players. It happens but it's not good.

I would have thought that a first loss to a 2 win team was enough of a wakeup call, but I guess they needed another, and maybe another. :(

I think we should give UConn more credit. They played very well in Colorado Springs last weekend and got a point, something the Tigers couldn't do.

Right. In and of itself, it is not good. However, if there was a problem to address (which apparently there was), the sitting is likely to end up producing more good in the end than having not done it at all.

It does happen, and when done at the right time for the right reasons, the overall result is good.

Of course it would be better if RIT could just keep complete focus and work ethic (or whatever the issue) was and win every game, but that is not humanly possible and we all need to be sit down once in a while to change course for the better.

As I said in my earlier comment, I am hoping this is the result this time (and I think it will be). We'll never really know, but we will know how the team responds in the weeks to come.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

I put the blame squarely on Wayne Wilson. Lets take our hot goalie out of the net, sit 2 of our best offensive players and change up all the lines and cancel all the momentum we built up after losing three in a row. UConn did not get RIT's best and that is why they won. This is D1 hockey - not youth hockey where everyone gets equal playing time. You play your best players every game especially when you are winning. I can understand if they had lost their last 3 games, making it 6 in a row wanting to shake things up but come on this was a mistake. I have heard that players often say that Wilson is not very motivating inside the locker room and they have to get themselves up for the game. At least at home they have the crowd support making up for a very unenthusiastic coach. I have never seen him get animated once on the bench and try to fire his players up. Some say he is "composed", I say Wilson needs to motivate and lead his players more!

I have a feeling there is more to the benching of Burt and Favot than motivational issues. Someone mentioned to me the other night that they are room mates? I don't know if they meant on the road or at RIT, but I almost wonder if it was disciplinary rather than something team related.

Yeah I was thinking they might have just got themselves into a little bit of trouble. We'll probably not know the true reason why they were scratched unless someone has a little inside knowledge :)

Prior to the scratch on Saturday Favot had no points and no shots in his previous two games.

On Friday Burt had no points and one shot.

Then you haven't been to enough games! ;)

He certainly doesn't "lose it", but he get's plenty animated, etc. on the bench. In the locker room, only a few really know what he does and wether or not it is the right thing for the team (I'm not one of those and won't pretend to be). I think his success to date warrants a fair bit of respect and benefit of the doubt. Also, the performance of his players as students warrants even more respect. DI or no, they are here to get an education.

Re: >>>>> RIT TIGERS 2009-2010 <<<<< Rockin' The Ritter For Another Year

Not to mention that Madolora does need to get some ice time if he is going to take over next year. And not for nothing, I don't think he has done a bad job. I don't think (correct me if I am wrong) that either one of the goals he let in were soft. I think it benefits the Tigers to give DeMike a game off here and there to keep him fresh for what really matters - the postseason.

Good stat digging kbranch on the shots. You can't have the two most talented forwards you have only taking 1 shot combined on Friday.
