Re: Report: Holy Cross to replace Notre Dame in Hockey East?
Not to mention Princeton or QPac to/from St Lawrence & Clarkson, and vice versa.
So, you don't think a bus trip from Bentley to RIT or Canisius is a pain in the butt? HEA isn't the only conference in EST, ya know...
All those West of the Eastern time zone who would like to trade their current travel schedule for maximum of 6 hour bus trips once or maybe twice a year raise you hands...
Ok let's count... 1,2,3... ahhh, yep, pretty much everyone.
I'm not saying 6 hours isn't a long way, but teams like MTU, NMU, LSSU take a six bus ride just to get to the airport where they might then board a plane for a six-hour flight, maybe followed by another flight if they're headed for Fairbanks. Talk to someone at UAH about 24 hour bus trips around the US for kicks... Or the fact that UAA and UAF are three or four TIME ZONES from the rest of their conference. I'm not ripping Hockey East in particular, I'm just saying that HE, ECAC and AH really can't complain about tough travel by comparison. Even the Bi6(7) is fairly compact due to their lack of teams.
Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe these are the closest opponent for each WCHA team.
Look at Tech and Northern with that posh 90 minute bus ride.
Cake eaters...

Team (Closest Opponent) Distance
MTU (NMU) 1.5 hrs
NMU (MTU) 1.5 hrs
LSSU(NMU) 3 hrs
FSU (LSSU) 3.5 hrs
BGSU (FSU) 4 hrs
BSU (MSU) 5 hrs
MSU (BSU) 5 hrs
UAF (UAA) 6 hrs
UAA (UAF) 6 hrs
UAH (BGSU) 9 hrs

I'll bet some teams in Hockey East might not even log 24 hrs in TOTAL one way travel for their entire conference schedule. It's just a guess, but given the proximity of BC-BU-PC-NU-UM-UML-MC-UC I think it's a pretty safe assumption. The "long" trip is way out to Indiana.
