Not for me!

Agree with this 100%. As much as I didn't want any teams added I could accept that Notre Dame and UConn are big name schools with large followings and other successful sports. The same can't be said of Holy Cross, Bentley, Quinnipiac etc.
Holy Cross has been a much more competitive program over the years than UConn was in Atlantic Hockey. They have been mostly a top tier team in that league. Surely one remembers them knocking off #1 Minnesota in the NCAA's. They play a decent brand of hockey and have had skill players. One year they even came into Conte and beat BC. The rest of your post rings true: Until we see it there is a great unknown as to whether they can get enough fan support. In one way they are the best possible fit though; geographically.
Please no... keep it at 11 and make the bottom 3 teams sit for the playoffs.

Well how about BC? Other than hockey (and baseball just this season) they are the laughing stock of local sports. BC Football? Really? BC Basketball? Really?

Bottom one sits, 10-team playoff. Doesn't quite solve the one team sits out a weekend or night during conference play problem, but it fixes the postseason.
Are you going for a Phinal Phive?
Holy Cross athletics? Really?
I have no interest in defending BC, but to act like anyone in New England cares about Holy Cross is laughable. In the current state of affairs, UConn is the only school attracting fans that aren't alums for BB and FB. College sports are niche in the north east.
Personally I prefer it over having to listen to 4 hours of how u[sic]GA's 3 star linebacker recruit is gonna make them competitive with Alabama in the SEC. BC football is not an attraction, that's true. But come on Holy Cross?!?!
Give me 7v10 and 8v9 play in games followed by a standard 8 team playoff and I'd be thrilled.

well y'all know that ship has sailed. everyone is making the playoffs for as long as the eye can see from now on.....
I don't think that the league accepting them would be a given if they apply, but I think it likely they will apply. Regarding the women's program the AD stated the three leagues they are looking at are the CHA, ECAC and Hockey East. The ECAC appears to be a non-starter unless a current ECAC team leaves. Likewise, the CHA appears to be unlikely based on what the AD said regarding missed class time for travel and the fit of the school with the league. That leaves Hockey East, and while the league originally had just the UConn women's program in the league, that was to get the league to the minimum six teams required by the NCAA for an auto-bid. It seems unlikely to me that they would accept Holy Cross' women's team without also accepting the men's team, especially when the league supposedly wants 12 men's team.Likely. Hockey East will have to toss out their on-campus arena requirements. They seem to have already done that with UConn. The article announcing HC women moving up to DI clearly states they have no plans to upgrade or expand the seating at the Hart Center.
