Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

Good morning kids. Happy Patriot's Day to you all. Though I have the day off because the marathon literally ends a block from my office and the streets around my building are all set up for meeting areas and we wouldn't be able to get to the building. 'diva - are you really going to try and run next year?? That would be so cool!

Much to do today. Doing some laundry now. I need to clean my bathrooms. I need to do some food shopping. I need to really start planning what I'm bringing to Vancouver in two weeks. And I have some work work to do. Yesterday I spent the entire day at Boston College. Yeah, I know. My godson is going there next year and it was "Admitted Eagle" day. He and his dad, my cousin, flew up from FL for the weekend. It was a long day and I met them so early. I was glad I got to sleep in this morning.

Off to do several things.....

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

Hey Lodge.

Long weekend. I managed to get a trailer to pull around the yard with the 4-wheeler to haul leaves and wood and dirt and anything else that needs hauling. Also, found and bought a lawn mower. $400 for a sweet old John Deere, runs great, new bearings in the deck, newly sharpened blades and a new battery. I think I got a deal.

Saturday I was at the farm, where I got the trailer, which was a PITA to get in the back of the truck and hung off the back by about 3 feet. I helped my parents clean out a shed that is getting torn down and replaced with a newer, bigger one. I had a bunch of stuff in there, so I had to pick out what I wanted, and whatever I didn't want will just get buried with the rest of the building. Saturday night was my godfather's 50th birthday party, so that was a fun time.

I got home Sunday morning and raked leaves, then I raked leaves some more, after that I decided to keep raking leaves, and I'm only about 10% done. Ugh. My yard is a disaster. I don't think it has been raked in about 5 years, so there was matted down leaves that have killed the grass underneath, so now I have bare dirt spots where I've raked. I'm going to have to overseed all of my yard. On top of that, someone a couple years ago decided to stop mowing about half of the yard and let it grow up, now it looks like hell, so I'm going to try to mow it down and turn it into lawn again. A bunch of work left to do...

So, one would likely consider Notre Dame as an elite institution of higher learning, no? Would one not expect a graduate of an elite institution of higher learning to know simple, basic, grammatical rules? Why then did I get an e-mail from Ryan Thang about his summer hockey clinics titled "Skate with the Pro's" (sic)?

Maybe he WAS correct, and maybe the Word program cut off the last word. Maybe he wrote "Skate with the Pro's MOM." Didja think of THAT?

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

:( That is really sad. This is going to sound strange but try not to jump on the hate band wagon for the Mom and cop. They probably aren't going anywhere and they will end up being in the kids lives. The less you say to them about how jerky they are the better. Just say it's sad. (Can't count how many times I have counseled people who are going thru with this stuff and a few months later everyone is talking. The outsiders are the ones that end up saying stuff they can't overcome)

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! moanin' marathon monday...
I totally understand what you're saying. she's one strong seventeen year old girl, i recieved this text...

"I've realized I can't be mad at her. While she's stupid, made dumb mistakes, and I know it won't be easy, I can't be mad at her. If she wasn't happy then she wasn't happy. She's only human, and we all make mistakes. Some are just larger than others. I'd rather her be happy then to live a life of lies for our sake. (her and her sister)

That just sucks.....holy selfish behavior. Best of luck to your friend(s). :(
appreciate it!
Wow, that's rough. :(

'Morning, Kids. Happy Patriots Day, and Happy Boston Marathon Monday! May this be one of the last years I merely spectate on this day!
that'd be soooooo cool if you ran it!
I played blackjack when I was 18 at TI right next to people with booze, they didn't care. Actually played at Mystake Lake while others at the table were drinking also.
There's no alcohol allowed at Mystic Lake these days.
1.) Life isn't fair.
2.) People are selfish.

I think that one of the keys to life is recognizing and understanding those two points.

I totally agree. This I've learned more through sports though then life.

Mornin' All! hope everyone has a good monday!

Good morning, Lodge. Still looking for a job. :(
Made an adorable cake over the weekend for tcbg's mom. Got to hang out with legal's little one ... SO CUTE! Unfortunately, the party where this occurred was at work.

At least I have Friday off (possible beginning of my unemployment). I think I'll do something nice for myself that day, like plan a hike.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

those weather people are forecasting a foot of snow or so here tomorrow night into wednesday..

It's April 18th, I know we live in Minnesota, but holy ****!:p

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

Ugh. I'm not sure if I should be happy or upset at how last night played out. Hmmmmmm.

Now to wrap up a powerpoint presentation for a class tonight, Athletics award banquet, presenting said presentation, bar to celebrate being done with 1 of 4 classes. Tomorrow will be my last day in class as a student!

You should do that Donut run. Where you run a couple miles, eat a dozen donuts and then run back. :)

But back to marathons, are you doing the TC in October?

Applications are already filled for this year. :( It's a qualifier for the Boston Marathon though. :) Something to keep in mind...

To answer all of these, here is my tentative plan:
3 or 4 half marathons this summer while I build up a bit more of a mileage base and work on overall fitness. Next year, I plan on running at least one marathon, and hope to qualify for the 2013 Boston. :)
As far as which races I'll do next summer, I have a few ideas. Bayshore (the one in my hometown) is a BQ race, so is Grandma's, and so are a few others that I've been thinking of (including a small one in Eagle River in which my BQ time was the winning time last year.)

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

Does anybody know a good source to find a list of registered sex offenders? I was recently told that we had one move into the neighborhood, but I'm trying to confirm rather than simply let rumor rule.

Insert Dude Love joke here? ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 133: I still hate you all

I've been dealing with this shizzzz my entire life. Different time zone, different area code, same weather quirks.
The snow melted by the time I had tent duty anyway. 40 and sunny, not a bad day at all. I may even have a touch of sunburn on the face.

You know what's interesting? My running has improved since I've allowed beer back in to my life. Hmmm...
Same thing with candy... once I started making peanut brittle and nougat, I've been able to fly!

This nice, relaxed weekend took a downward tumble tonight..

I get a call from one of my closest friends, who i've had a great friendship with since I was about 5 or so, a friend from the lake, etc. She's absolutely balling, and I try comforting her and whatnot, and she tells me that her parents, who have been best friends with my folks for just as long, are getting a divorce. Now a little background knowledge. The two getting the divorce have been high school sweethearts, married 20+ years. They have a good faith base, attend church regularly, etc. The wife is like a second mom to me, she's been somebody I've trusted for years. The husband's mom passed with a long battle with cancer at the age of 60 this past December. Basically, these two are the nicest people you could meet...or so we thought. turns out that the wife has been having an affair with one of their good family friends, a police officer who patrols the lake regularly, has ice cream with us all down at the local campground, etc. She is moving out and moving in with the cop, who also has just announced he will divorce his wife. My family friends, that couple has two daughters, one a junior in high school the other in eighth grade. I consider these two sisters of my own. I'm at a complete loss for words right now. I'm absolutely flabergasted at how this could ever occur. I don't mean to ***** and moan, or whine about my problems to you all, but if you could just keep this family in your prayers, or in your thoughts, I'd appreciate it. The daughters have had two suicides in their school last week as well. It's been an absolutely absurd two weeks for them, and I feel so badly for them. thanks, it's appreciated.

It's stuff like this that keeps everything in check, let's you understand how lucky you are, how delicate life can be, and just how crazy this world really is.
:(

Good morning. Anyone still scrambling at the last minute trying to file a tax reurn or get an extension?:)
Just filed my state return today.

Actually you can still enter the Chicago Marathon, provided you go through a charity, such as Team in Training. That was how I entered.

Evening, Lodge. Need to start dinner soon, and then sit down and do homework... oy.
