According to the internet Brian May (queen) heard it in a German club and asked about it. Or something to that effect.

And it should be noted that Queen recorded Under Pressure with David Bowie.

And "Stop Drop And Roll" was also used as a defensive move against lava in the South Park Series. ;) (Can't find video)

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 132: Easter Goodies

Question, I work until 7am Wednesday and then have to start work at 7am Thursday, best sleep plan in between?

What time do you end Thu? Keep as close to a normal sched as possible. What's the sched Fri? Your lack of sleep won't hit until a day later, on average. Given the details, crash at about 10pm (and don't expect to fall asleep until 11pm-12am) on Wed night. Get 6-7 hours sleep.

I'm working 7pm to 7am right now...and then switch to 7am to 7pm, same for friday plus the drive back to th cities. I was thinking I go to bed for 3-4 after work tomorrow morning, force myself to get up at like 10:30am-12pm on wednesday and see what time I can get to bed.

Geez, never thought I'd say this, but talk to the Commie. He will know about totally switching schedules, since he works a night shift.

I think your best bet is to stay up after work and go to bed around 8-9pm. Sleeping for 3-4 hours in the morning will leave you feeling about as tired all day as you would be if you didn't go to bed at all, plus it would make it harder to go to sleep at night.

This will work. I used to have schedules like this every week. Sleep for a bit- usually 3-4 hrs, wake, get in BRIGHT LIGHT - works on the right brain pathways- and do something active with in the first hour. Do not do anything that would be physically active past 6PM. A few hours (or at least an hour) before bed decrease the light you are exposed to (cues up the the brain) , decrease stimulus- ie no computer games, action TV,etc. Took a really cool class in sleep disturbance and the thing that gets left out when switching is the light thing. Light is a moderator of Melatonin, the chemical that initiates sleep-wake. They also did cool studies on using Melatonin to change sleep wake cycles. Used pretty big doses to achieve end point. None of the supplements are labeled to take the way the studies gave it. no one knows why.

Good morning boys, good night Shirtless Guy.

GOOD MORNING EVERYONE!! wobbly wednesday.

Yes. I think this is the link they gave us in the class. Has some cool stuff on it. http://www.sleepeducation.com/Disorder.aspx?id=12

Sleep/wake Circadian rhthym stuff is really fascinating. The body does everything according to a certain pattern- most gastric juice produced at 11 PM, worst respiratory status 1-4 AM, Kidneys work best 3-4 AM (which is why you bloat if you work nights and are upright then), highest BP 8-10 AM. So when you work shift work it screws up the regular working of the body's systems. THat is why some people feel so poopy
