Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

Went over and got a ticket to the high school games for tonight. Former Gopher Peter Hankinson was there getting tickets and chatted with him for a couple minutes. His daughter is about the same age as my kid, her team is in the Regionals this weekend at U12A. Pretty good traffic at the ticket windows for mid-afternoon.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

Within the space of a few minutes, I received phone calls from both my brothers telling me that our elderly mother had fallen in her house and broken her hip.

She was taken to the hospital and admitted. Subsequently, x-rays were taken showing a broken hip. The chief orthopedic surgeon read the x-rays and believed the condition to be one that could be repaired surgically. It wasn't until he was performing surgery that he determined the hip could not be repaired and that a full hip replacement procedure was indicated. The difference between being able to repair a hip surgically and installing a hip replacement is that the rehab process after hip replacement surgery is much longer.

My brothers are now on the East Coast with our mom. Over the last few days they have been researching the best place for our mom to be placed for her initial rehab treatment. Current thinking is that she will be able to be discharged from the hospital by Thursday or Friday of this week. At that time she would be placed in a rehab center for what we believe will be a two to three week period. It is hoped that at the end of that period she would be strong enough to go to her home. If that is the case, arrangements can then be made for in-home rehab to take place.

If at the end of the initial 2 to 3 week rehab period our mom has not made sufficient progress, such that she could go to her home, my brothers and I would need to seek placement for her in a "low-level"nursing home which could further facilitate her rehab to the point where she would be strong enough to go home and continue her rehab with in-home physiotherapy.

I will be flying to the East Coast this weekend and staying there for an undetermined length of time. It's been a difficult last few days and I'm confident that there are far more difficult days ahead. For those of you who keep a prayer list, my family and I would appreciate being placed on it. Thank you.
Good luck ASaaG. Prayers are indeed headed your way.

Well that's not good....best of luck shot. :(

Thoughts headed your way, Shot. Hope everything goes smoothly for everybody involved.

Prayers offered Shot.

Shot, sorry to hear that. Hope the surgery and recovery go well. My dad had one hip replaced twice and the other fused. This was a lot of years ago when the technology was much more primitive.

Shot - :( Positive thoughts headed your mom's way.

:D

Sending thoughts and prayers your way!

Good luck to your mother, ASaaG.

Sorry to hear that, Shirtless.

Good Morning, Lodge!

My thoughts are with you both, Shot and Shirtless.

Good afternoon Lodge.

Mr. Shot, regards to you and your family. Hope everything goes as planned.

Good luck ASaaG. Prayers are indeed headed your way.

Thanks folks. My family and I appreciate your kindness. I'm heading to the East Coast Saturday morning. My brothers will be there until and a little beyond then.

Good morning stranger. :)
Thanks, everyone; they are much appreciated!

Continued best wishes for your family, Shot.

Evening, Lodge. Washed dishes, changed the cat litter, took the trash to the road, swept the floor, cleaned the stove and countertops, and yet, there's always something more to do. Here's hoping the next couple days bring rest.

Yeah, but it does make for a nicer looking paycheck at the end of the week. Why the heck are you guys so busy anyways??

We took over some business in WI, although this kind of business spike has been going on since about last July. And haven't hired more people, and haven't even replaced a person that left. It's insane. Not counting the recession bit (some were asked to take 4 day weeks, etc, for a couple months), we've almost never allowed OT. To my recollection, even 4 years ago, if you hit 40hrs, you were sent home, and most Fridays were days you could count on "Voluntary Time Off" (meaning you could leave early, but you wouldn't be paid; who was first was based on seniority/skillset that was needed for the business; mostly based on seniority).

And due to the inevitable ND floods, we'll gain MORE business from that (pumps, wetvacs, etc).

Now, that is why this is the best night of hockey there is. Two incredible games, especially the second one. It doesn't get any better than that. Goodnight lodge.

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

Good Morning Lodge. Tired today, I think I'm going to end up going home after work and falling asleep right away, only to way up at about 9:00...

Re: Rep Retirement Thread 130: Revolutions Abound!

Morning Lodge.

Bigblue,
I left after I saw you and MNS as I had to get some stuff done at home and get some rest after a bad night the night before. Glad the second game was exciting. Looking forward to State, but now the Gophs have gotten my hopes up with maybe getting home ice that weekend...
