Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: What are you looking forward to in the offseason?

Apparently I have taught myself how to outsmart my alarm on my phone, and could dismiss it (not snooze) and fall back asleep the past 2 mornings. My punishment? Found an app in the app store that makes me solve math problems to snooze, and can only snooze a maximum of five 3 minute rotations. Bad HP1015, bad!

Nice. My personal best was in college when I was sleeping in a loft. I kept my alarm on the floor across the room but I still managed to climb down from the loft, stumble across the room, snooze, and still could get back into bed and instantly fall asleep.

What is the name of this app, so that I may send the developers a sternly worded letter of complaint written in Polish?

No Math!!

When I had a paper route in jr. high school I set my alarm (clock radio) for the Sunday morning route. I would wake-up just before it went off and turn it off then get right up. I have never understood the point of snooze. When it is time to get up, it is time to get up. If you have time to sleep longer, set the clock for later. When it's time to go, move your lazy arse.

Hi Scarlet!

Hi Scarlet!

I tried that but for some reason just can't do it. Usually need 2 snoozes or waking up is way too difficult. I may have tricked myself into thinking waking up too quick gives me a headache that takes a while to shake. Weird, but it's how it works for me. Drives the wife crazy but after being late for work a few times she realized there was no choice for her.

My interest in all things wedding increases exponentially during Finals time at school. :o On the plus side, it means that I'll have a lot of options for pretty much everything for tcbg when we do finally decide to actually set a date.

Sorry to hear about your parents, Monster. :(

Hi Scarlet!

I have a regular alarm set for 6:40. It's the standard iPhone marimba ringtone. I find it pleasant to wake up to.

If I ignore that and decide to snooze, I have another marimba at 7:00.

If I ignore THAT, and make it to 7:20...I have the drowning music from Sonic the Hedgehog. If you've never heard it, YouTube it. It's good old fashioned nightmare fuel. Now THAT will get you out of bed and alert. It's worse than the PK Ditty.

//**** you, Labyrinth Zone
///it's also my ringtone
////I never miss a call

I need this app.

Also fully capable of this.

Marimba annoys the hell out of me, and that's why it's still one of my alarms. I set about 5 alarms, so once I've got a snooze routine going on, it's about every 2 minutes that one goes off. Now I've got Sweet Child O' Mine, Don't Stop Believing, and Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) strewn in there.

Is it the original 16-bit version, the sonic 3 slightly remastered version, or the orchestrated version from the newer Sonic games (Adventure DX is what I'm thinking)?

I ABSOLUTELY HATED that boss!!!

The original version.

And BOSS? I didn't even make it a minute into the level! "Oh, cool, we're underwater now, everything's all floaty and slow, this is pretty cool, hope that big bubble wasn't important OH JESUS CHRIST WHY IS THAT LOUD ANGRY MUSIC PLAYING OUT OF NOWHERE AND WHY AM I BREATHING GIANT NUMBERS IT'S GETTING FASTER WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE HELP ME TOM CRUISE I'M NEVER PLAYING THIS LEVEL AGAIN *turn off Genesis in a panic*"

Oh, and it kicks in if you make it to 9:50 on the timer too. And in versus in Sonic 2 when someone finishes and the other guy gets put on the clock.

Although I've never owned a Sega (or any video game system), I first played Sonic 2 and it freaked me out. I learned about the bubbles easily. The ground moving down in Marble Garden on Sonic 3 freaked me out more.

I do remember, the first time I got to a water level on a Mario game, I was wondering where the air bubbles were and how long Mario was allowed to be underwater before going up for air.

Hi lodge. Went to the comedy club Saturday with some friends. The comedian did a bit that included math. I thought of the Lodge.

Also, it's official my parents love my brother more than me. They are moving to Texas. I will have no reason to visit my hometown in Maryland again. It feels like a part of me has gone missing.

Always tough when parents move out of your childhood home, even harder when they leave the area but it isn't like you stayed in the area. Of course my mother told me "if your brother wasn't staying here with his family I'd retire to Arizona tomorrow."

Well, hasn't that brother already provided them with a grandchild already??

Oh, speaking of math, I could use a refill. Got a negarep from Rimmy.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: What are you looking forward to in the offseason?

OK. I made it through the day. Still have much to do and I should probably stay, but I think I'm going to head home now and make a nice dinner. And relax.

My folks have been talking for years about selling. They just don't know what they want to do. Do they want to get a smaller place here and a place in Florida for the winter? If so, where up here? Do they want a condo/townhouse/smaller house? Who the heck knows when they will get around to making a decision. I do know I still have a bunch of crap at their place. 99% can be tossed. It will bum me out when they do eventually sell. Even though I have my own place, I consider that my home. My older brother and I live in the area but my younger brother lives in California. When he comes to visit, he stays with them (and sometimes with me). If they move, I don't know what would happen. It's going to be weird, whatever happens.

That sucks. Just make sure they tell you where they live. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: What are you looking forward to in the offseason?

I know the feeling of moving out of the childhood home allllll too well. It was pretty difficult knowing that when I get back from work this trip, there isn't really a 'home' now, just 'new house'. I'm guessing that will be the feeling until I get my own place, but even then who knows when that will come.

Just about finished supplying Greenville, MS with 84 octane gasoline and ULS diesel for another trip, should be headed back south by midnight.
