Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: What are you looking forward to in the offseason?

It's getting very cloudy and some big thunderheads are rolling in.. Could be an active afternoon weather wise!

Sir, if we were face to face, I'd slap your leering mug and challenge you to a duel for such an impudent remark! Sake shots at 10 paces! :p

I can't think of anything better than Scarlett johansen and millions of jgirls together -- all for me!!! :D

Moving sucks, even just a few miles across town. However, I now know that my move will be much easier since 95% of my stuff will be together and already packed up.

Hoping to get out for 18 holes tomorrow with a buddy, if the weather cooperates. It looks good for now.

We have a new era of Maverick Hockey! Welcome to town Mike!

Good evening Lodge.

As stated before, I am not a big beer fan but I have been experimenting lately with different beers. A friend dropped off about 2 or 3 bottles of about 15 different brews. Currently drinking a Mirror Pond Pale Ale. Good stuff.

Ugh.

The two longest work days of the year are upon me. :( Probably at least 30 hours at the office over the next two days. At least Tuesday I know that at 5 PM, it's all over. It's a matter of getting there.

Deschutes is quality all around.

To ease you into the beer world, I'd also start you off with New Belgium Trippel, Hoegaarden Wit, and Schell's Maifest (this one is hard to find and is only seasonal; I believe this is the end of the timespan that this is sold). Lighter beers, easy on the tastebuds, and quality brews.

If you want dark, I'd suggest Ommegang Three Philosophers, New Belgium 1554, and Deschutes Black Butte Porter.

That's a good friend for hooking you up like that.

Well, signed up for two more races this summer; not bad for being told not to run until I lost weight.

I have never tried a dark beer. They scare me. ;)

The ones I suggested are not of Guinness thickness, although Ommegang is potent. 9.8% IIRC.

Edit: Keweenaw Brewing Widow Maker Black is quality, too. I've converted at least 2 non-dark-beer-drinkers to that. Good luck finding it here, though. It's a Mich UP thing.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: What are you looking forward to in the offseason?

If you're not completely comfortable with the stouts, I suggest either reds or browns to work your way up.

That's why I suggested wheat/white type beers. Start with that. Then upgrade your way. Although I have to admit, I loved Guinness from day one.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: What are you looking forward to in the offseason?

Dark beers. I just have a problem using a spoon to finish off a beer. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge: What are you looking forward to in the offseason?

I lied. I have tried a dark. One evening after many beverages I had an Irish Car Bomb. omg. Not as nasty as a three wise men but pretty f ricken close

Does not count. Carbombs are a disgusting prank.

Car bombs are delicious!

Three Wisemen is not. Also, Four Horsemen (Three Wisemen plus Jose) is not. And the Voltron is nasty from stateofhockey's report (Four Horsemen plus Sailor Jerry).

You could not pay me enough for that concoction. The Three/Four/Voltron has a theme of liquors starting with "J." Jim, Jack, Johnny, Jose, Jerry. ;)

The Doctor is a fave of MeanEgirl's, though, I do know that much.

Crap, now I kinda wanna have a drink. You bastige.

Go to the fridge and grab a Zima. :p
