I like the first one. But I think I need something more to frame the shot. A deep, deep blue sky or something like a deep track left by something, oh I don't know, MDX-ish weight I can drop the camera in and do a more lunar landscape kind of shot.

Beaches don't exactly provide a lot to frame the shot. Otherwise you need more of a lighting or contrast effect to make it interesting.

Take sunsets over water. Sunset shots over Superior tend to be horribly boring. Horrible. You need to be back inland a ways or out on a pier. Otherwise it's just a sunset. *shrug*

ETA: let me be clear. Sunsets can be perfectly good pictures. Pretty. But if you want to really capture it, you need to have something to break it up.

That's my goal this weekend. Going to one of the darker areas of the midwest.

FINALLY. Officially on vacation for a week! And looking at the weather in the Twin Cities later this week, perfect timing. All packed except for the beer I'm bringing to settle some trades/gifts/etc. AT DAWN WE RIDE! (ok, maybe not exactly at dawn, but close enough)
