Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 98: Favorite Alter Ego

It's amazing the number of people who put rinks in their backyards, those represent a small portion of one city in MN. :)
My first concussion was on the next door neighbor's backyard rink when I was seven. :)
I went through that for severa years too....one day it will be over and you will miss it like crazy. Trust me. Though Patrick did skate with me a the GPL game Tuesday night and we had a blast.
I wish I could have played. I would have liked an extra ice time this week.

Hey brent, I just remembered, meant to tell you about a week ago. I was digging through a pile of clothes and found an extra tech shirt that must be yours from the MN series. I don't know how I missed it when I looked after the weekend, but its there now. I'll put it with your beer, so you get it this weekend.

I had a crappy day. Wine won't fix the problem, but it's helping me get through tonight.

Wow, I could have made this same post tonight. Not drinking anymore. Out of wine. Feeling better, but not as good as I'll feel tomorrow at 3:00.

Ah, the exciting life of the young, single, American male! :p

Morning Lodge!

Glad to hear MEUSA got his, er, issue cleared up! Hope Scarlet continues on the mend.

Kid hockey will get in the way of big kid hockey this weekend. Outdoor practice Friday from 7-8, torn on whether to go skate with the team and DVR delay the Gophs-Hussies game till after or have the wife take the kid over and pick him up while I watch the game. Saturday the kids have a 4:45 home game, was thinking that would work fine until I realized the Gophs play at 5 due to Hockey Day in Minnesota coverage.:( Found a buyer for our tickets so we can watch the bad peewee hockey instead. :( :(
Hockey running your life too?

Just back from HH. Yes, this late:eek: Very interesting game. In the first 5 minutes a major called for a hit from behind that was shakey but in Bantams gets called. After that~ why blow the whistle. Elbows up, gloves in the face, etc. slashes to the helmet... Toward the end of the 1st L'il got absolutely blown up by a kid twice his size- who hit him from behind. The entire rink went wild because there was no call. The other team cross checked one of our guys in the head as he went by the bench in between periods. I decided that I was absolutely right to remember why I hated when the kids played this town.

The rest was no better. At one point one of our kids got slashed in the helmet and rode their kid to the boards. Their kid started punching, our kid punched back. Brawl happens. Whistle blew- finally a penalty, you think....nope, off sides.

In the third Lil got cross checked in the back of the head, the kid finally got called. Lil (cherub that he is) said 'haha' as the kid went by and the kid roundhoused him. double minor. Not 3 minutes later our G makes a save, the kid keeps coming after the whistle and slashes our goalie. Goalie sticks are bigger than those little ones. He used it and gave it right back. The kid leaps on him, swinging. Another kid swings at Lil as he comes in to protect the goalie (who is 2 feet taller than he is, what was he thinking?) That kid gets gets clubbed by the goalie who has now shoved the first slasher right under him and is on top of him, kneeling as he takes on the next guy. The ref gives a major to the instigator. Kid starts dropping the F-bomb at the ref, going off. The ref heaved him. He let out this torrent of foul language. F this, F you, on and on. Not one word from their bench about knock it off. The coach chucks the locker room key on the ice. Kid bats it down the ice. A few more minutes and finally he is finished being ejected. These kids are 13.

One of the few times I really didn't want my kid on the ice because I was scared he was going to get hurt. The other team was big, heavy and filthy dirty playing- sticks like axes, fists, hitting from behind from across the rink. Our kids were not playing clean by the end of the game but nothing like the stuff they were taking. I thought someone was going to end up really hurt and carted out. Even Mr, who never says anything and never says the refs suck said some stuff.

After the game the F-bomb kid came out of the locker-room area and all their parents were joking about what he did with him:eek: Like wow.

After tonight what ever happens will be so tame no one will care.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 98: Favorite Alter Ego

Once I had a connection from Miami to Ft. Myers. It was one of those little planes, maybe 14 seats, 7 on each side. I was in the front, and the curtain wasn't closed into the cockpit, so I could see in. This was in late June, so it was typical Florida weather: thunderstorms all over the place, but none of them lasting very long. I could see the color radar screen in the cockpit, and to me it looked like wall-to-wall storms. And the pilots just steered us in and out, no big problem. It was cool to get a glimpse of how they were getting us around there.

see, we know what we are doing! Most of the time...

paging WTW...are you going to be at Air Force this weekend? I will be there Saturday night.
