Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 98: Favorite Alter Ego

I've never had luck with pain meds. They either make me sick to my stomach, or cause me to get that out-of-body feeling. I really don't like either. A couple of Tylenol and sleep usually works.

Of course, he told me to call if I change my mind! ;)

And, for the record, and for those of you who might be questioning why I shared my tale of woe, it's simple. I figured if you could handle seeing ctf's tatooed foot, you could handle anything! :p

Don't worry... I won't be posting any pics of my incision!
Aw, shucks. I love the gory stuff! I can't take pain meds (same reasons) and use Hypericum Perf (homeopathic remedy). Used it after abdominal surgery and it worked amazingly for me.
Making homemade bbq chicken and caramelized onion pizza tonight. :) Just waiting for the dough to rise.
moan. I want some!

Thanks Brandon!

Yeah, we're home and I will be there! (of course, ASaaG will no doubt have some witty comment for me)

And make sure you ask Mike about his new t-shirt! ;)
Bring a foam donut!

It's a new recipe - you may want to wait until I figure out if it's good or not. :p
I'm in the process of making the pan roasted chicken in the cast iron skillet, which I'll coat in bbq sauce right before it's finished, allowing it to caramelize. I have onions caramelizing in a second pan. Once the chicken is finished, I'll put it on a plate to cool, wash the skillet, and use the skillet to make the pizza (per idea from Not Martha). I have some mexican/taco cheese and some american cheese to put on top of the pie.

*fingers crossed*

I don't have a cast iron skillet. When I was a kid we had a great one. I did try to get one seasoned a few yrs ago. epic fail.

tcbg got me one awhile ago (June? July?) as a gift, which I love and use a lot. Over Christmas, my mom gave me two of hers (a larger skillet and a griddle with ridges) that need to be restored (they're rusty, but not beyond repair). Worth an investment (Lodge sells pre-seasoned ones).

Promptly remove your mind from the gutter!!!! :p

well, i just can't do that. I could think of endless things I shouldn't post (having just given Lil a lecture on putting ourself out there in an inappropriate way could come back to haunt you) but someone else must be able to fill in;) .

I can only imagine what Mike's new T-shirt is.
Well, he's been to the Bank a few times this season so I thought as long as he's there he might as well look like he fits in! Last Saturday I managed to get him a QU hockey t-shirt which at first he wanted to throw away. By midway through the 2nd period, he had it on (albeit under his coat). He's now our honorary part-time fan! :D

You beat me to the plate for the home run 'ewe placed on the tee.
Sorry bud... had to. You know how it is when they hang one out there... :p

Any chance you are heading up north for the series in February?
Not sure yet. I was hoping to have a clearer picture of where we might end up in the playoffs but our recent slump has me confused. I don't want to go for a regular weekend if there's a chance we may end up there in the playoffs (or even somewhere else on the road). Someday I'd love to have the luxury of getting to all regular season road games... that would be sweet!

Of course, I had planned a few more road trips this year that didn't happen because of this pesky thing called life!

Awesome. Everyone has stories of Comcast's pathetic customer service.

I'm proud of the Yost student section from Saturday. When coming back from commercial breaks (the game was airing on Comcast) a chant of "we hate Comcast" broke out. :D

My fun story is that for the 3rd time I am trying to get Comcast to stop charging me for a modem when I am using my own modem. In college (6 years ago) my roommate bought a modem. I returned the Comcast one and started using his modem. 3 months later I look at my bill and relize they are still charging me. Get that settled. Move to my own apartment after school. Get billed for a Comcast modem though I am still using my modem. Several phone calls later, get that cleared.

Recently moved again. Idiot they sent to set up my cable gave me some story about not being able to use my modem because Canton was different than Ann Arbor, blah blah, different account number. I ended up setting the internet up myself, using my modem, with no problems. I finally looked closely at my bill in December and called to request they stop charging me for a Comcast modem. I go through the same stupid procedure of giving them the s/n which I am now accoustomed to, they say they'll remove the charges from my bill. I get my next bill it claims I short-payed them ('cause I didn't pay for a modem) and they are still charging me.

Anyway, I call last week and now they say they have to send someone to my house. I ask when this changed, she gives me some story, claims she asked her boss if there was anything they could do, blah blah, someone will be there between 8-12. Guy gets there at 12:30 or whatever and asks what he needs to fix. I explain my service is working just fine and tell him the modem story. He looks at me confused. Goes and looks at my modem, writes down the s/n and leaves.

I have yet to see if the issue is finally resolved.

Good God. That sounds eerily familiar. I feel your pain.

I'm also curious if they're going to eyeball these results to see if they can expect any sort of crowd in Tampa in 2012.

So...is that still on? I thought they changed it to another city. I'm looking forward to it if it actually happens.

They did tell me they took a culture and would change the antibiotic if indicated by the lab results. I didn't really understand all the technical talk.

Just don't agree to take amoxicillin!!!!!

Remember when you asked about ways to earn money while you're in school? You should seriously think about doing something with cooking. Maybe a small catering type of business, or teaching cooking or something. I'm sure there are people/families in your area that would pay for prepared meals. Or something. You seem to really enjoy cooking and are good at it.

Yup, it's not worth it to try to season your own, unless you're really cheap. ;) Fleet Farm sells Lodge stuff cheap, for those in this neck of the woods.

I've also thought about making a pizza in a skillet, it seems like that would be about the best way to make a deep dish. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 98: Favorite Alter Ego

All this talk about DSL's has gotten me wondering. Why wouldn'nt someone like DSL's?
Awesome. I remember the last time this came up (way back when I was in school, and before a lot of the people on here were posting)...I think Winger set off that discussion, as well. hmmm...

I believe it was posted about 10 Lodges ago (was featured in the New York Times). I have a friend (well, technically, he's tcbg's friend) who might be willing to make this. I will have to consult the male powers that be and find out.
He's made it (I think he actually made two). I saved you a piece. I'm pretty sure he'd be willing to make another one. I think it's the wife you're going to have to convince.

when it gave you a chance to fill in the blank about what you love most about college hockey, I should have referenced that stupid ****ing lacrosse game that ruined UND vs UNH  darn
You people are still complaining about that? You really didn't miss much. All you needed was the final 20:45. :)
apologies to the NoDak fans, but that is one of the few happy NCAA moments I have (especially recently), please let me bask in it

And you want to know why we thought you were younger? :p
Standing at a hockey game has nothing to do with age, and everything to do with awesomeness. (i.e. everyone should stand)

Wal*Mart sells Lodge, too. ~$15 for a mid-sized skillet. Not too heavy, either.

This will be the next think I cook in the skillet, though.

Haha, I figured it had something to do with Q. Eh, as long as he's wearing Scarlet and Brown for any games between the two, I'm alright with that.

Ya, understandable. Reason I was asking is because I'll be headed back for the long weekend, and word has it that bcarlisle (SLU poster) will be making his first trip back to Appleton in 25 years, so I would imagine there will be some sort of poster gathering amongst the masses, especially being a holiday weekend. I'll check back once we get a little closer.

Me too. As a matter of fact I wouldn't expect anything different. Heck, I'll even return the favor if I ever happen to stroll into Appleton to catch a game that doesn't involve the Q! :D

Yeah, I've got plenty of time to change my mind! :p
