FAA update: '05 grad went through OKC recently and stated that he has heard that they are going down to 30 instructors (from 80). Cutting all center classes except for Jun/Jul/Aug. Cutting 11 tower classes, with 8 more being looked at. This is for FY2010.

coming down from HR in general, there's a hiring "freeze" and the only hiring being done will be on a limited scope and an "as needed" basis to provide more bodies to facilities that are severely understaffed and in DIRE need of more people. all other facilities have been told to stream-line and cut staffing numbers to the bare-bones limit cuz they aren't going to get anymore ppl for at least a year.

Facilities were already hurting for people and are now being told to "make it work".

Sorry to anyone if you die because your final monitor is on his 3rd straight hour on the scope at the end of a 16 hour day. :mad:

I have never seen it. In fact I am not much of a TV/movie watcher except for sports, Thomas the Train, Cars, Toy Story, Nemo, Discovery, Nat Geo, Disney, and of course the speedo channel. :)

Ya know, didn't really want to read this considering I fly RSW-DTW-SYR tomorrow night.

That seriously sucks, though. Although I can kind of relate because at the fall career fair for school they were basically turning away all deck side students but really wanting to talk to engineers. Hopefully the shipping industry recovers next year and/or a lot of older mates/captains will retire.

Facilities are being told to not expect anyone for at least a year. People who have already been hired, but going through OKC now won't be able to get raises for 1.5 or so. They're training current controllers on new equipment, meaning it can't be used for training. No training, no certifications, no raises.:rolleyes:

Wow, really? You should Netflix it. It still holds up after all these years. It's definitey funnier in reruns than some of the stuff that's on these days.

I bought some Girl Scout cookies at the T station today. Normally I bypass them because my niece sold them and she gets my large donation. I called her on Monday night to see why I have not been called for my order. Turns out she decided to not be a girl scout this year. :eek: I was at a loss - who's gonna be my supplier this year???? Thankfully I have instant gratification now! Off to open a box of Carmel Delites!

You must have kids about the same age as my kids! .... and you left Caillou and The Bearnstein Bears off of the list!

Caillou by the way, had to be invented by someone wanting to please the kids and torture the parents at the same time.
