Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

In a word: alcohol. The problem: she was living in "wellness" housing and signed an agreement stating she wouldn't have alcohol (or drugs, etc) in her dorm. She knew when she popped the top that what she was doing was wrong, but did it anyway. double-u tee eff

Now, I'm not naive enough as a parent to think that it wasn't ever going to happen, but I certainly didn't expect it to happen quite the way it did. :o

The "wellness" housing just means you get drunk elsewhere, then come back to the dorms and torment everybody while blasmed.

I nearly got thrown out of my dorm. Long, convoluted story that amounts to a trumped-up charge by an RA and ResLife advisor trying to take the easy way out of doing their jobs by throwing me out rather than listening to what was going on. Not surprisingly, that menagerie distracted me enough from my studies to contribute to ac pro trip number two.

In an unrelated story, I think I've figured out how this "hockey curse" works, and if you see Brent come running at me with a steak knife, kindly stop him.

I know I bring this crap on myself for waiting so long. This Tuesday Comcast is switching over most of their channels to digital and one of my TVs has the cable going directly into the tv. So, I ordered some digital adapter from them. Tried to set it up but this tv has a Tivo attached and for some reason it's not working right and none of Comcast's info tells you what to do in that instance. Tried calling Tivo and their customer support number is not working. Why is this **** so d@mn dificult????????????????

Probably very similar to what gmann went through with his il's! :p

Surprisingly, I was very well behaved when it comes to booze, until I turned 21. I never drank before I turned 21, but I'm pretty sure I am the exception. I drank alot after I turned 21 and shortly after I graduated, but now I have toned it down quite a bit.

You should try to make it work without the TIVO connected first. That way you can tell which device is causing you a problem.

Bad news... my team sucks... Good news... I'll be able to buy a new bike sooner (because my team sucks so I won't have to travel).

That's executive thinking!

Of course, even I know that! She knew it too but for some reason decided she was special or something!

I think I just performed a college hockey fan heel turn. :p :D

MN was beating NMU 1-0 in the 2nd.

No less than 5 seconds after I tuned into NMU's radio broadcast, NMU scores, MN starts having penalty trouble, and NMU now leads 3-2.

Not to mention, I got a letter from Tech, telling me that I have to meet with my academic advisor (they listed the wrong guy, of course) and telling me that I have to take UN1010 - Creating Your Success. "Introduction to strategies for creating academic, professional and personal success. Emphasis is on determining individual priorities, improving self-management and developing critical thinking skills. Guided journal writing will be used to explore these strategies." And guess who's the prof... my cousin. SHOOT. ME. NOW.

I had to take that my very first semester at Tech because I lived in the CS learning community my freshman year. We were all in the same class and took the opportunity to make fun of the "coursework" and the instructor as much as possible. ;) :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Was never on ac pro at UND. Yes, it took me 8 years to finish. 1.5 years as ATC, .5 off, 5 as Commercial Aviation (only reason I didn't finish it was getting flying done on time), 1 year as Aviation Management. The only semester I would have been close to ac pro was the management year. Halfway through the 2nd semester of it, I realized I hated the business side of it. Incredibly boring to me, and I couldn't wrap my head around it. Unfortunately, I forgot to drop two classes so that affected my GPA quite negatively. Switched to ATC...never looked back.

Other cousin actually had a life at Marquette, and she is now in law school and is one of the top in her class (She's taken, and I wouldn't wish any of you on her anyway).
Academic probation was never a problem for me. And some of us don't have any need for your cousin anyway :p :D
In all honesty, I probably wouldn't have looked at them had I not given my parents access to my grades early on this semester. Okay, back to the working-world, there-are-no-holiday-weekends-this-week, work schedule starting tomorrow. It was nice while it lasted. :)
Says who? I'm not heading back to work tomorrow! :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

Is it even possible to be on ac pro at UND? ;)
One of my good friends from high school was on ac pro at UND :p
He then proceeded to continue to suck at school, and dropped out after a couple semesters. He went to work in a foundry, after 2 years of that, he said "**** this ****", took some community college classes, then transferred to SCSU. I think he's been much less of a failure there.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

I suppose technically I was on ac pro in my 2nd year at tUMD. Trouble was, I already had decided to leave school, and didn't want to move back home in winter, so I just stopped going to class/caring. Well, I went to one class: Jazz Studies. Also took the final in Art History after going to only one of those classes (the first one). Got a C, completely guessing on half the questions. :D

I had a friend in high school who got rejected from SCSU. After a year at Auggie Tech (Augsburg), one of our other friends said to him, "Apply to UND and come to school with me. All you need is a pulse." :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 95: A USCHO Retrospective

What does one do to get on academic probation? I think I studied for about 3 classes in the 5 years I was at SCSU and my GPA at the end was 3.20. Honestly, how does anyone think they're going to get any good grades if they don't even go to class? Or read the book?
