Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

Lazy Sunday underway.

Woke up at 9 and looked at my clock. Went back to sleep till 11. :)

Football, Beer, Pizza is probably the plan for the afternoon.

Tomorrow will be more active. I have to ship a gift that was too large to carry on for my trip. So as long as I am out and about I'll probably find other things to do.

Watching these Canadian Juniors is like a video game in "Arcade Mode." They seem to score at will.

Third time in 24+ hours that the fire alarm is going off. 6:30am and 10:45pm yesterday. Something is wrong with one of the detector thingies on the top floor. I went down to the lobby and saw that it was the same floor so I came back upstairs. Fire department is now here. Hopefully they will shut off the piercing alarm sound momentarily.

I'm going to head out and do a little food shopping. Then put away gifts and take down my tree.

As annoying as that may be, at least they work, and at least there's no real fire! In my apt building, the only reason I got out safe is because my neighbor was awake and noticed the fire in the attic and called it in, the alarm never went off. If he hadn't been home, there would've been a lot more damage.

However, I hope they fix that problem! That would get highly annoying...

Hello Lodge.

Watching football today with my dad, my mom is going to pick up some pizza for us, from a local place that has opened since I moved away, that makes wood-fired pizza. Looking forward to that!

I have to catch my flight to Detroit at 7:00am tomorrow morning, which means I have to leave here at 4:30, not really looking forward to that.

By the description Scarlet gave, you couldn't be more wrong as the fire alarm is going off when there is no fire. That would be, by definition, a broken alarm. Sure, it's making noises, but not based upon a specific trigger.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

My wife and I are back in Denver after a terrific time in the mountains. The snow conditions weren't vintage early-ski-season-in-Colorado, but we found some good mogul runs on Peak Nine in Breck and off the Avanti Chair in Vail.

We had two wonderful dinners at restaurants including a new place which opened only four days before we arrived.

We typically take only one present for each other to open on Christmas Day [to avoid having to lug too many items to and from the condo]. As a result we'll open the remainder of our presents this evening before, during and after having a wonderful dinner with a glass or two of wine and some Christmas music [which will be put in storage until next year].

We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas spent in the presence of family, friends and loved ones. :)

I wouldn't recommend putting the dinner in storage for a year. The wine maybe, but not the food.

Hey gang, my brother-in-law plays in his church's jazz band today so we went to a Lutheran service to watch him; no kneeling, padded pews, apparently no guilt, geez what an easy religion. :D

Protestantism is Catholicism graded on a curve.

And I have to make a 12 hour drive alone, now. Not happy about that.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

Well, I'm glad that I don't have to drive it. I've had my plane tickets for a couple months now.

The plan was to pick up someone along the way because I'm going north of Detroit after the games, but apparently things changed with one of his hosts at the last minute, and he's out. Guess I don't have anyone to help with driving or gas.

On the plus side, I don't have to spend as much time in Wisconsin.

Flying back to DC tomorrow... should I break into my best soft-falsetto and say "ready for my probe Mr. Demille"?

i had an issue once because i wore two different shoes for about a year (they looked VERY similar) and one was broken on the bottom. i made the mistake the last time i wore them ( ) of trying to get through airport security and the dude pulled me aside and had the whole place pour rain on me. as we're done he goes, "are you aware of shoe bomber, richard whatever his name is??" i just looked at him as i was putting my shoes back on and said, "i'm white and blonde... that is not your profile to search" smiled my winning smile, and left.

Just as long as includes a stop for some spotted cow, thats all the time you really need to spend in Wisconsin. ;) :D

Cleaned out the coop here today, wasn't nearly as frozen in as we thought it would be and the front loader bucket made pretty short work work of it. Hopefully be able to pick up the lumber tomorrow morning and will be able to get started on that project ASAP.
