Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

Morning Lodge

I'm not in the greatest mood right now. I was planning on sleeping in today, but I was woken up early to go outside to shovel, plow, move cars, chores, bed, etc. because my dad hurt his back. Then as soon as I got the cars moved, my grandpa decided that he needed to go home right away and he took the tractor home. So the nothing got done anyway. At least my mom made me bacon and eggs for breakfast.

Well, you got up early and had breakfast. A silver lining in the clouds, or something like that.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

Good morning Lodge.

Looks like we got between 3 - 5 inches last night.

About the same. That wind last night made some crazy drifts. I got the tractor stuck twice going down the hill past the propane tank toward the coop. Once I got to the coop, I cut a big turnaround area and then a double wide path to the back door. I cut that path, went back toward the coop and threw a chain off a rear tire. Luckily I had cleared that area and it's flat so it wasn't too bad replacing the chain. Got all the back yard trails carved out and the tractor up the hill to the front just in time for the plows to bury the end of the driveway.

Round one is complete, and it wasn't that big of a deal.

It's one of my favorite lines from Strange Brew.
It's all good..... :)

I, of course, didn't see the movie. Clearly, DrDemento is the RPI fan who has seen every movie ever produced (several times). :D

Indeed! His knowledge of movies is amazing!

(and you should see Strange Brew; it's an ... experience. Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas star as Hosers (weird Canadian hockey fans). :) I experienced it with my own set of Hosers (UNH fans).

I just finished up clearing the driveway and other areas as well. I am disappointed that we didn't get buried...............yet.

I should see that again.

Morning, Lodge. I'm willing to contribute all snow from the 612 and 763ville to the "keep gmann away from the gILs" fund, just so my sister, BIL and their twin boys can land at MSP and get up here safely. ;)

It's funny.....in a quirky no-brain needed sort of way. :) A lot of lines/references have remained in pop culture.....We were the only ones left on the planet, eh.... Anyway, it's based on a SCTV skit Moranis & Thomas developed. There are a lot of clips on YouTube.....of course not the one to which I was referring.

If you have no expectations when you watch the movie then your expectations will be met. ;)

I think I'll throw my dvd in and watch it again. I tried to show it to some tech fans on a big trip to Duluth, but they were like "No this sucks, let's watch American Pie : Band Camp!"

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

Put me down for an order as well for some Spotted Cow. Still kicking myself over not picking up some of that when I was in Wisconsin a few weeks ago. The only place I stopped there that had it there, it was too late for them to sell it to me. Who would have thought that Wisconsin would have any laws keeping people from getting Beer?? :( :( :(

So, I'll be coming from Wisconsin for GLI. Maybe we can work something out.

And that is where the nickname for our group came from.

It's based on Hamlet - and has hockey players. How can it possibly be bad?

One thing's for sure: after seeing this movie, you'll never go to another movie in the theaters without bringing a jar of moths. :)

Did you know that they developed that skit because the Canadian government required television shows to start including more cultural Canadian ideas into their shows. They set out to include as many annoying and offensive cultural stereotypes into one skit - they ended up with Bob and Doug McKenzie. :)

If he had shown up when he was supposed to yesterday he could have had the morning off.

Aaaaaand, I *ing hate Dell right now. Because the Geek Squad guy at Best Buy told me he thinks it's a motherboard issue and now my less-than-a-year old computer is being shipped back there to be fixed. Merry effing Christmas. Needless to say, you probably won't see me online as much.

It is 5pm somewhere, right? Because I need a drink.

I hate Dell, too. I ordered a new PC and got it after three weeks, and it didn't work. Spent an hour on the phone with a technician in India and he decided it was the motherboard, so they're building me a new one...and it's been in production since 12/8.   I'd cancel the order, but I got my mom's laptop for practically free with the system. What's really funny is I got a telephone call from a techie at Dell asking if I liked the replacement system...the system that hasn't even been built yet. Fills me with confidence...

The customer service reps are authorized to give me up to $400 to keep the system...think they'd send me a free PS3? :p

As for 5PM... ~ what would Jimmy Buffet do? ~

In the words of the late John Candy, "six bucks and my right nut says I'm not landing in Chicago."
Shoot for Detroit or Toledo Twitch, and then rent the cheapest car you can to just get to Saggy.

Yeah, I really did create a monster when I started the Stump the USCHO Movie Buff. Its been a while since I've been able to name any of those movies. :o

That would work as well....

I saw it in a theater in Portland, Oregon when we moved my in laws (first marriage) out there. 1983? I started wondering about the future of my marriage when my wife started complaining during the movie about how "dumb it is". I was laughing like crazy :D

It started here again. I think this is the part that moves east to west now.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

The Shiitestorm approaches here. Just went out and got some sawdust ready for the stalls in our extra wheelbarrows as that we're not likely to be able to get horses outside tomorrow and they're going to making messes of their stalls. Saw a few wet raindrops, and moved a few in, then it stopped. Came in to check on the radar, got a little break for here right now, but its going to be coming soon.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

Merry Christmas Eve Lodge! :)

Feels good to have all of my family around again. All of my first cousins and aunts & uncles are here. First time that's happened in a couple of years. Kind of had a bad night last night, but after a good 8 hours of sleep, I'm good to go. Hope you all have a great time with whatever you happen to be doing. ♥

Twitch, your lack of posting leads me to believe that you may have made it out.
Safe travels to all and your loved ones.
