On the other hand, try to find something to do on Christmas day. Everything is closed. :( When my mother was still alive, we went to Atlantic City every year ona bus chartered by a synagogue. Although I don't care for gambling, the casinos are always open. Mostly Jews and other non-Christians are there that day.

Most of my Jewish friends go to the movies on Christmas Day. Then they have a nice meal at a hotel.

I didn't realize this until the first year Mrs. Gonzo and I didn't have the kids on Christmas (blended family). We decided to go see a movie, and when we got there, we started running into a lot of our friends, nearly all of whom happened to be Jewish. I asked one buddy what the deal was. He said that it used to be a lot more fun before all the multi screen theaters opened. They'd go to 2-3 movies in different theaters and meet at a hotel for dinner and compare notes :)

Morning Lodge.

Expecting another rather slow day at the office, since about 3/4 of the people here and 5/6 of the people I work with took vacation this week. :p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 94: Holidays, tournaments, presents and snow!

Next week may get far more interesting for me.

I'm flying home (Maryland) tomorrow, then driving back with the parents on Saturday (my mom needs to be in Grand Rapids on Sunday). So, the parents are staying at my place Saturday. I'm prepared for that. Then last night my mom tells me they may want to stay at my place again either Tuesday or Wednesday night. I explain that I'll be at the GLI and getting home late those nights.

Mom: "I'll talk to your Dad, maybe we'll go to the hockey games"

*facepalm*
While I will be on decent behavior at the GLI, I don't need my parents there.

Awww but it's acts like this that make you the good daughter. ;)

Speaking of ****ing off family, I may have a rant I need to post in the Extras thread. Let's just say I didn't quite get to this chapter in the book "Toxic Parents" yet.

Morning Lodge. You all were busy yesterday, like 15 pages worth since I looked in last. Not. Reading. Back.

I had a lovely drive to Silver Bay yesterday. It really was not bad, as good of driving weather as one could expect in December in MN. Just too long of a day for me. About 3.5 hours driving each way and too much time on site. This project will get messy - may wind up in court.

I just love wannabe federal cops who find the need to warn me about coming to a complete stop at a parking lot stop sign at 10:30 *'ing pm when nobody else is around.

Worlds colliding!! Worlds colliding!!!

The worlds colliding thing just made me remember my uncle (mom's brother) will be there. hmmm...I wonder if he's staying for the 2nd game Tuesday. This may turn out ok. He'll be confined to the press box for the first game

Make sure you introduce them to Bill. :D

I'm still unsure if I'm going. Too many variables at the moment.
