Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 93: Midseason Excellence

Well, Lodgers, she did it: my wife is now a graduate of Texas Tech University!

I took her away from her studies fifteen years ago, and she never finished her Bachelor's degree. Now that we've been in Lubbock for a few years, she went back as a full time student in August 2007 (with two kids!) and just walked down the aisle today.

A banner day.

Awesome.

My debris fire is still going.

Making pizza(my dough is proofing as I write this) and drinking a lovely Sam Adams cranberry lambic

Congrats, Mrs. WTW!!

Anything south of Clare is Detroit.

FTFY.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 93: Midseason Excellence

I've come down with a chest cold. I'm coughing and have a sore throat. I actually went out this morning for a marathon shopping expedition and when I got home this afternoon, I crawled into bed and slept for a couple of hours. I went to Walgreens to get some Tylenol and Delsym and I cannot for the life of me open the bottle. I'm shivering and miserable and I just want to take the medicine I spent close to $10 on and the *ing bottle is more than childproof. :(

This should handle it.

Woke up to approx 2" of snow this morning. When I went to bed last night there was nothing, and nothing in the forecast. On my way to my sister's place, in her subdivision actually, I blew right through somebody's front yard with the truck. The road leading up to the subdivision was wet. Turned into her sub. No problem. Pulled up to a stop sign, rolled through it, and turned the wheel. Problem! That part of the street was snow-covered. I turned the wheel, the truck sorta turned, and then didn't. I slid with the wheels turned, and whoosh!, right up into their yard. I put it in 4WD, turned around, and drove away. :o No damage other than tire tracks in their yard.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 93: Midseason Excellence

or just saying you're from the ghetto cause you live in Minny. ;)

When I was at tUMD, some "thugs" were talking crap about being from the Cities (MN's call the Mpls/St Paul area the Twin Cities, or The Cities for short). My buddy asked them, "For real? You from the 'hood?" They said yes, and he asked where. They said "Robbinsdale."  (marginal suburb, bordering a bad part, I guess....maybe...). They asked him where he was from.

He said "Phillips." (a real bad part of Mpls)

They cowered away in shame. :D

Juicy Juice. Don't laugh. Craploads of Vitamin C. Ask anyone who's stayed at Chez Rube, I always have a jug of it. If I start to feel ill, half that is gone in a day, easily. Always works.

That might explain all the sketchy people I see when I go shopping at the Cub on 26th and Lake St. It's either there or Midtown, I can't win.

Lake St wasn't a good area when my dad worked at the Sears building/tower way back in the day (25 years ago or so? Dukes of Hazzard was still on primetime then). :o

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 93: Midseason Excellence

how could there be sketchy areas anywhere in MN?!?!?!? this is like south canada.

On West Broadway in North Minneapolis, you can play "Count the hookers/dealers" in broad daylight. :p

And don't be white and drive in that area at night. One night, driving that way, my engine light came on. Ran a red on purpose. Got pulled over. Cop saw my carful of white guys, and gave me his card, and said, "Just keep going. Don't stop."

Yeah, I was rather happy about that one. Had a buddy (different one than the tUMD story; a brotha) who lived in the heart of North. Knew all the OG's, but didn't run with any of 'em. I'll show you the exact sign tomorrow at OC, but I guess when Big Poppa said goodbye to my buddy, he accidentally gave the Vice Lords sign. If others didn't see who we were with, I was told there might have been some trouble. :o
