Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 93: Midseason Excellence

Good morning lodge!

It has been a good day. Free doughnuts for engineering, because we're awesome, and an email from the president saying that we're awesome and that we're getting a merit pay increase next year! :D :D :D

see, posting on USCHO pays off!

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 93: Midseason Excellence

/full disclosure: I love baked brie. My wife and I order often when we go out to a restaurant\

The raspberry chipolte sauce on it is awesome. Some heat, some sweet, combined with the creamy brie is a great combo. I have some nut and brown rice crackers that go sooo well with it. Yumm.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 93: Midseason Excellence

The court-reporting company we work with just brought over a chocolate gift basket... as in a basket made of chocolate filled with chocolate.

Yeah, I hear this concoction is the #1 item on the Golden Goofers' training table. Might help explain the team's 8-9-1 overall record and its impressive seventh place standing in the WCHA. :p

They even have chocolate covered oreos! Bet those would be good in a chocolate martini :p (or a lemon drop martini)

In a chocolate martini, absolutely! Not so sure how they would work in a lemon drop, though. Not that I wouldn't be against trying it! :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 93: Midseason Excellence

You know what's a good drink that I've recently rediscovered?

A Manhattan.

That right there is a man's drink.

The (female) receptionist was drinking one at our Christmas party last week. Even the smell was manly. I don't think I could manage that!

If that's the case, every Tech fan is a Wolverine/Gopher/Sioux waiting to happen.
As bad as Tech fans are now when they're pretty lousy, there would be no living with them if they ever got good.

Oh I guess I would be now....weird.

Please no ripping of my clothes. Otherwise I am ok with that. I will need a new massage therapist.
No worries, I've gotten my 30 massages in so that I can start working in the student clinic next month. All I gotta do is finish up an instructor rub and I'm good to go there.

Why didn't they just send over a solid block of chocolate?? :D

A few weeks ago one of my vendors did a mailing about "key to partnering" crap and included a solid milk chocolate key! I've been nibbling on it the last few days.

I find that I've been drinking quite a bit of wine lately.

ETA: Off to a holiday luncheon at the new W Hotel!

Variety is the spice of life, dear. :)

I love red wine and chocolate, but after last week, I'm trying to cut back on the booze a bit. (Had eggog [read: rum with trace amounts of cream] every night, and got SCHWASTED at the holiday party last Thursday [5 dirty martinis + bottomless wine glass = very sick sheep]).

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 93: Midseason Excellence

I'm going to see Cannibal Corpse tomorrow, and think I'm going to avoid beer all night. Which means: a nice mix of long island iced teas, jack-and-cokes and whatever else I feel like drinking. Perhaps black label on the rocks.

mmm. whisky.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 93: Midseason Excellence

Lose the girlie man cherry juice & sweet vermouth and man up and drink bourbon with a couple drops of water. ;) :)

So you're calling Frank Sinatra a girlie man? though the Rat Pack preferred Dry Manhattans

Morning, Lodge. Absolutely nothing to do today except get a couple more Christmas presents.

I'm all outta bourbon or I'd pour myself one when I got home. Definitely my drink of choice when I don't want to look like a total lush ordering straight bourbon.

How do you take yours? Rocks, up, bourbon, scotch, etc?

Give me a bourbon manhattan on the rocks and a nice cigar, and I'm a very happy man.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 93: Midseason Excellence

That is an option too.

The only problem is that, at this place, a whiskey on the rocks might cost $11. :(

Well, by definition a Manhattan has bourbon, not scotch, right? So yeah. I drink mine with bourbon. And I like it on the rocks.

Don't get me wrong, scotch is my whisk(e)y of choice, but when in Rome...

My only caveat to that is with single malt scotch. I know you're supposed to drink it with a splash of water, but I just prefer it cold. Unless it's a real smokey scotch (like Talisker), then it can be up. The cold seems to take away some of the smokey flavor to it.

Holy crap I want a drink now... :D

Yep, that'd be a Rob Roy if it's with scotch. But it's also a good option.

And a drink does sound good.
