Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

Happy new week, Lodgers.

So at my 6-yr-old's hockey practice they told us parents, If you want to bring your skates, come on out and help. So this week I did. I hardly know what I"m doing, but it's still helpful to have somebody stand with the kids, keep them lined up, and konk them on the helmet when it's their turn to go. Frees up the coach so he can actually work with them during the drills.

It's pretty funny to work with such young and clueless kids. Yesterday one kid wouldn't go, and wouldn't go. So I said, C'mon buddy, what's the holdup? "Well, I think there might be a drop of sweat or water on my eyebrow." All you can do is say, "Oh, yeah, that happens sometimes. What you do is, you take off your glove, and you take your finger, and you stick it through your mask, and you itch it." The kid looked so happy to have a solution. I think he really thought he was stuck. :)

Don't say anything unless he broaches the subject first. Then you can only offer sympathy - if it's a job he wanted to keep.

Yep.

Maybe the cliched "hang in there" sort of thing, etc. But don't mention, unless.

BPH,

Obviously you have never lived in DC. There is no, "run to the store to buy bread, milk, and toilet tissue" option. :D

...Blizzard? ;)
It passed through my mind, but I think it left between Sonny Bono and St, Clooud. :o
And you left me in there as well?? Dude, major Poll failage there.
My Walmart was a *ing ZOO this morning. People wouldn't even get out of the way so we could get from the front of the store to the back of the store or vice versa until we told them that we worked there. Idiots.

We also had some crazy Canadian woman come through my register (thankfully it was at the end of my break so I was waiting for the guy covering me to finish ringing her up) who didn't understand that her credit card wasn't going to be charged both the American amount and the Canadian amount. Seriously, it took five minutes to explain this to her. At 6:30 in the morning. If you don't understand the differences in currency or how your credit card company handles international purchases, don't buy outside of your home country.
People like that should be shot.

Offer to buy him a beer.

Just checking in - have been away for a few days.

Same here. Back from Chicago/Duluth/Chicago. Crazy weekend. Got to Chicago all right and got a few rubs in there. Then picked up a travel compainion on the north side of Chicago to go all the way up to Duluth. Pretty uneventful trip north, only big scare I had was I had to swerve a little to avoid a deer that had been smacked already and was laying between two lanes in Wisconsin. Is it bad that I immedianly wondered how many Wisconsinites would get smacked by cars while trying to grab that dead deer and pull it off to the side of the road??

Anywho, got to Duluth around 4:30, pulled up right next to their stadium and we cought a little nap right underneath their scoreboard. woke up about 7:30 ish wondering where the heck is everybody. Security had been thru the lot, prepping it because its for Parents and the other Duluth high rollers. They had set up some cones and barrackades for the lot, but didn't bother to give us a courtisy knock. :p

Overall, it was a great game there, and afterwords we had dinner at Grandma's, at the Sports Garden there, and ended up taking bit of a tour of Duluth there. Then got out of town and stopped at the north side of Chicago to fold up shop there. Jim's wife wasn't exactly cool with me just crashing on the couch at his place, one of his daughers was pretty sick I guess, so he offered to get me a hotel room for the night. The hotel room was pretty cheap, and I was thinking that it was going pretty sleezy place, especially after the clerk at the desk had mention something about a 40 dollar cash "day fee". But it really wasn't. Might just have been that it all looked like it had just been recently built. Either way, got on that memory foam mattress there and proceeded to quickly fall asleep for the night.

Woke up Sunday, went back over to where my table was at and did some more rubs there, then proceed to crash for an hour or so on their futon while watching the Bears vs. the Vikings. After that, woke up pretty refreshed, and proceeded to load all my stuff up, minus my bolster, (fancy foam pillow), which I guess I'm just going to have somebody ship it back to me. Kept thinking that I was missing something when I driving thru Chicago, but didn't realize it until I got home at what it was. :o :o

PB,
Do you know any of the details? That is when, and who scored the goal and had the assists. (The person who put you at maxrep and the two previous reppers.)
