Headed back to school today for the final stretch run. Killed a small 7 point buck last night on my one day of hunting for the year, pretty lucky. I'll have pics up in the whitetail thread this week sometime.

Feels good to have a day of rest after being out of town.
Saw Cavalia while in Atlanta. It's basically Cirque du Soleil combined with horses. It's a bit slow at the beginning but definitely worth seeing if you get a chance. Plus the horses are amazingly well trained.

We've taken our Christmas decorations out of storage in advance of our picking up our Christmas tree tomorrow afternoon. It's going to be an eight foot Fraser pine. We have a friend whose daughter's high-school senior class buys Christmas trees from an Xmas tree farm and then sells them at a small profit to people who have placed orders for trees. The kids use their mark-up to help pay for expenses associated with their prom.
Even though Mrs. Shot is feeling well below her best due to a head cold, she's being a trooper and is about to start making homemade turkey vegetable soup. She saved the carcass of a twenty-five pound turkey she prepared for our family holiday feast and will be using it to make stock for the soup. Throw in some chunks of turkey, carrots, celery, wild rice, spices and dash of this and a pinch of that....and VOILA....it's homemade turkey soup with a store bought baguette[Seeduction from Whole Foods] for Sunday dinner.
We'll spend tomorrow afternoon getting our tree, bringing it home, putting decorations on the tree and hanging lights on it and throughout our home. Always a bit of work, but we both enjoy the end result.

Hey Eagle, Thanks for the rep. We had a terrific holiday. My wife got to see a bunch of her family, lots of folks got to visit, and we had a blast T-Day night watching the Broncos game and the Texas-Texas A & M game. I prefer the college game so I was among the group watching that game in the "man cave" featuring about a 60 inch big screen.
I see the Quinn P. Yaks had a successful week beating another bookworm team--Princeton--before dismissing huge mess, er, UMass in OT. Cuppla high school teams [Yale and Brown] on your schedule this week, are there?
If they had lost that game I may just have gone into hiding... or changed my name to boot_rand_pecknold.
