Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

The '77 Buick LeSabre I owned while in college was a beast. 4 door. It actually had a Holly (sp) 4 barrel. Thing was a boat/tank but man it drove nice. I remember one year I was driving on Lake Bemidji after drinking a couple adult beverages with a car load of buddies early one morning. :o It was late in the season so the lake was literally all glare ice.

I had a 72 VW 411, E Brake between the seats, that was awesome on the ice. 80mph, pull the E brake, rear wheels lock and go for a ride. Screwing around on a frozen lake is a blast, of course

Guilty as charged. Life is too short to not be silly and have fun. "You're only young once but you have your whole life to be immature" is one of the mottos I live by. What's the point of life if you're not having fun?

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

Cars I've had:
1979 Plymouth Volarie
1970 GMC 1500
1985 Ford Escort hatchback (college car)
1991 Mitsubishi Mirage
1991 Plymouth Sundance
1996 Ford Escort stationwagon
1999 Plymouth Neon
1996 Chevy 1500 extended cab 4x4
2000 Ford Taurus
2007 Dodge Dakota
I felt bad that I had destoyed somebodys fish house. The next day I called the owner to apologize and make matters right. The owner said "thank you for your honesty and most importantly thank you for destroying my piece of shiat house. That sucker was froze down and I had no idea how I was going to get it off the lake. As long as you destroy the name plate we will call it good." :D :) :p

:D :D :D

My '71 Toyota Landcruiser was fun in the summer especially with the top off. It had 33" tires. It had one glaring issue though. The master cylinder was shot. In addition, the brake line to the front left and back right brakes were pinched off. When I applied the brakes the first pump went to the floor with nothing. Second pump I had a little brake just before it hit the floor. After the fourth pump I had full brake but the truck jerked to the right like crazy. So If I had to make a sudden stop it was quite comical. Still cannot believe I never got into an accident with that one. :o

Car was doing close to 90 MPH and I slammed on the brakes for shiat and giggles. Ended up destroying a fish house. After we confirmed nobody was in the house we looked the car over for damage. There was none and we took off. Later in the evening while I was filling the car up with gas I noticed that the name plate from the fish house was stuck to the grill of the car. (name plate has name and address of owner.) I felt bad that I had destoyed somebodys fish house. The next day I called the owner to apologize and make matters right. That's amazingly awesome! :)

Hahah...wow.

Afternoon, kids! Went to the local mac n cheese joint for lunch today. Cajun mac - fusilli with cheese, sausage, onion, pepper, and chili powder. :D

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

I used to help out this little old lady with stuff throughout high school. Yard work, painting, putting on storm windows, doing her - you know the usual stuff. ;) She gave me the keys to her car as a token of appreciation.

Now, now, that's not a nice thing to call Mrs. g. ;)

Sounds much better than my lunch of two pieces of toast and a Twix mini :o

It was like new but I beat the crap out of that thing every chance I could get.

Was she from Pasadena? Drive it only to church :D

hahaha... Nice!!

Lets see.......

- 88 Pontiac Sunbird stationwagon.
Was my dad's commuter vehicle until I got my licence. Had it for about a month until I dropped the tranny in it going to school in the morning. Howard gave me after school detention for being late to class because we had to push it into a neighbor's drive and then hike on back to the house to roll my dad out of bed. Powertrippin' *****

- 89 buick LeSabre
My main ride thru HS. White with red interior. Broke my cherry in its front seat. Other than that, probably most favorable memory of that car was racing a buddy back to town down a dirt road. It got a little sideways on me and they looked back at what they thought was a sure wreck and stopped. I managed to hold it, got it going straight again and went right on by them with a big SEG as they're laughing their asses off. Brother drove it while I was up on Mackinaw for the summer after HS and bent one of the rods to it.

- 86 Buick Rivara
Kinda ok car, had one of the first generation computers in it. Probably the coolest feature in it was that you could switch the display from Miles to KMH. That impressed the two Euro roommates I had in the early part of my college career. Let the Swedish one borrow it one day and he got pulled over in it. Probably only got out of the ticket because his name had Umlauts in it and the cop couldn't figure out how to run his licence. After a while, it lost reverse and I ended up swapping cars because there wasn't many places I could park at in GV without needing to back out of the spot.

- 88 Oldsmobile 98.
Nicknamed the Grey ghost. Was bit of a hoopty, but it got me around for a while. Ended up selling it when dad gave me his truck.

-96 GMC Sonoma.
Was Dad's ride until he got another truck. Had that my last year of college and for a while until I broke the U Joint on it in Midland in 2005. We fixed that, but given it had over 250,000 on it, it really wasn't worth it to me to keep dumping money into it.

2004 Chevy Malibu, Maxx edition, current ride
- Really nice car for me. Roomy, good on gas. First car I've bought outright by myself. Its my baby, but there is a part of me that wouldn't mind having that old La Sabre back. Then again, I had that beast back when you complained of gas being over a dollar a gallon. :o

That sounds really good! A "quick fix" I like to use for regular mac and cheese is to mix in some salsa.

She never drove. Ever. Her husband was the only one who drove it and he had passed away a few years before she gave it to me.

She was British and goofy/funny/spunky as hell. She always mentioned to me that if she was younger she would have liked to give me "a good rogering". :)

She was a hypochondriac though as she got older. She wanted to have the words "see I told you I wasn't feeling well" inscripted on her tombstone. :)

Even though Mrs. Shot and I already have an eight foot Fraser pine fully decorated and standing in our living room for the Christmas holiday season, we'll be attending a Christmas Tree party tomorrow. Mrs. Shot's employer throws a lavish party early in December. He invites any number of guests [nearly 100] to his house for lunch and adult beverages. After the meal any and all guests who are so inclined are welcome to go up to the land he owns--in Golden, Colorado--and cut down a Christmas tree or trees. Mrs. Shot and I will cut down a tree for her sister and their family. They have higher ceilings in their living room than do we and can accomodate a nine foot tree.

Enjoy your weekend and I hope you get to see your favorite team in action, even if it's a pathetic outfit like Bemidji or Quinnipiac.

:D

1986 Honda Civic
1998 Ford Escort ZX2
1999 VW Jetta (Wife's car)
2002 Ford Focus ZX5
2003 VW New Beetle (Wife's car)
2005 VW Passat 4motion
2006 Saab 9-3
2007 Saab 9-3

Loved the Passat, but the 02-05 Passat had a horrible habit of overheating due to a bad oil pan and oil filter that was too small. As a result, mine started on fire the week before it was paid off. In 15 minutes it went from completely fine to the coolant tank melting, the turbolifter starting on fire and the long block warping beyond repair.

It's the last VW I'll ever own.

A pine tree for a Christmas tree? Mostly Balsam fir trees around here.

First car: 1987 Chevy Corsica

Second car: 1995 Honda Passport. Purchased it President's Day Weekend, after BU had lost to Providence 8-1 in Providence. Stopped off on the way home to get something to eat and told my friends "I think I'm going to buy a car this weekend." Bought it Monday, it was bright red, BU never lost a game the rest of the season and won a national title. :)

Third car: 2000 Honda Passport - cannot remember why I traded in the red one. I think it was the five year, 60K, it's probably the best time now to see what I can get for it. This one was silver. BU didn't win anything after I purchased it. :p

Fourth car: 2005 Toyota RAV 4. Bought it on July 4th. The silver Passport was starting to become a pain with all the stuff I had to fix right after the warranty expired, so I traded it in. My sister-in-law's brother is a sales manager at at Toyota dealership so he gave me the family discount. It's my current car and has less than 24K miles on it.

The good old days.

This reminds me of the time I told a female coworker that women drivers are the cause of traffic congestion. She gave me a look like she was about to hit me. Then I explained that since most highways were orginally designed in the 50's when most women didn't drive that the large increase in women drivers has added alot of cars to the roads (aka traffic congestion) that wasn't taken into consideration when the highways were designed.

Although I probably should have left out the last part about women not knowing how to drive.
