Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

My list of transportation:
1979 Chevy Chevette - could see the tires through the strut mounts
1977 Ford Granada - banana yellow, saggy leaf-springs in the back made it a lowrider, quite the hoopty
1985 Chevy Celebrity - rusted out back bumper that I bolted a "Fresh Citrus" sign I took from the produce dept of the grocery I worked at, made it easy to find in a parking lot :D
1988 Dodge Dynasty
1999 Dodge Stratus - Viking purple, V6, unstoppable - especially after the brakes went
2006 Pontiac Vibe - great little car
2005 Toyota RAV4 - needed something to tow with

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

Vehicles I have owned:
1983 AMC Eagle Wagon

 Always had a soft spot for these, despite being kinda slow and behind the times style-wise.

Morning, Lodge. It's snowing just enough in 763ville to make it look wintry... and to make people forget how to drive.

So apparently it was truly like the Vikings :p

The Vikes have suckered me again. For most of the season while excited I was taking a wait and see approach. The dominating performances the last two weeks has me locked and loaded for the playoffs. If the Tampa Bay Bucs can win a Super Bowl it could certainly happen for the purple.

I really want the Saints to lose so the Vikings can get home field. How much fun would it be to celebrate a victory that sends the purple to the Super Bowl with 62,000 of my close personal friends?

Just remember that when the roads are dangerous it's best to drive really fast so you can where you need to be faster and spend less time on the dangerous roads. The law of probability.

I loved it!!!!! Old school radio, only 4 speeds (so couldnt really go over 55-60 tops). Big friggen heavy doors, I could of fishtailed into a dump truck and came out without a scratch.

I think the thing I liked best was the ground clearance. So it was like you were in a truck, but all the convience of a hatchback, and for a "wagon" it looked way cooler than a station wagon.

Seriously a beauty:

It's true - I test-drove one once and the doors were literally a foot thick. Really, it felt like I was driving a very low-slung truck with cushy suspension, and I probably could have pulled out stumps with the thing. If I didn't already have my Cherokee... :o

Now I am all sad and missing it :(

I've owned way too many vehicles.

Me too, bought a lot of cars just to sell.
My first car was a 69 camaro, 327 3 speed, 4 barrel, posi, wish I still had it
Owned many a pickup for work, Fords and GMCs
Right now I have 4 vehicles:eek: The only one thats any good is a project car, 67 Mustang, 390, 4 barrel, 4 speed, 9in Posi.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

199x Ford Escort Wagon
2001 Chevy Prizm
2010 Ford Fusion

Last time I tried to set any speed records, my Prizm ended up breaking down in the middle of a construction zone on I-39/90/94 in bum**** Wisconsin on Memorial Day.

The '77 Buick LeSabre I owned while in college was a beast. 4 door. It actually had a Holly (sp) 4 barrel. Thing was a boat/tank but man it drove nice. I remember one year I was driving on Lake Bemidji after drinking a couple adult beverages with a car load of buddies early one morning. :o It was late in the season so the lake was literally all glare ice. Car was doing close to 90 MPH and I slammed on the brakes for shiat and giggles. Ended up destroying a fish house. After we confirmed nobody was in the house we looked the car over for damage. There was none and we took off. Later in the evening while I was filling the car up with gas I noticed that the name plate from the fish house was stuck to the grill of the car. (name plate has name and address of owner.) I felt bad that I had destoyed somebodys fish house. The next day I called the owner to apologize and make matters right. The owner said "thank you for your honesty and most importantly thank you for destroying my piece of shiat house. That sucker was froze down and I had no idea how I was going to get it off the lake. As long as you destroy the name plate we will call it good." :D :) :p

Morning Lodge!

the mister has a 1969 Chevy Impala SS 427. three dueces. four speed. on the floor. buckets.

I have no idea what most of that means. Except its a big red machine that is really loud and goes fast.
I think I need to have a chat with you next weekend about this car... :)

Cars:
Took my driver's test in a '76 Olds Delta 88 Royale. Big azz boat.
Inherited (literally) my great uncle's '85 Chrysler LeBaron in '94 and drove it until the fly wheel went in '00 or '01.
Picked up a Pontiac 6000 or something like that from my mechanic and drove that until someone stole it.
Had an '85 Camaro for a bit - I think the engine blew. Very odd...
'99 Pontiac Grand Prix after that - I loved that car, but the payments were killing me at that time so traded that in for my current vehicle: The Dirty Jeep - '99 Grand Cherokee. Got it with around 60K on it in '04. I've got 157K on it now. Needs an oil change and the tires rotated, which will be done next Wednesday before we drive to Houghton. :)

Oh, and I got her up to 105-110 on 35 heading north between the Cities and Duluth. Took me about an hour and a half to make that leg of the trip to the UP that year. :)

Nice!

One of my buds in HS had a 1970 Caddy Fleetwood (maybe an El Dorado?), I think it had a 500 in it. It was the beast of all beasts, he once let a gorl he was dating drive and she promptly ran over a tree (about 3 or so inches in diameter). Tree was gone, not even a scratch on the bumper.

I used to help out this little old lady with stuff throughout high school. Yard work, painting, putting on storm windows, doing her - you know the usual stuff. ;) She gave me the keys to her car as a token of appreciation. It was like new but I beat the crap out of that thing every chance I could get. It finally died my senior year of college. I sold it to a salvage yard for $75.00.
