Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

As for overcompensating: you tell me:

My three vehicles so far in life:

1989 Corsica (4-cylinder)
1990 Corsica (6-cylinder)

1999 Jeep Wrangler (6-cylinder)

Yeah.

Less about compensation, more about one piece of shyte gravitating towards another. ;) The Jeep is good, but you really need a stick shift.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

1989 Corsica (faded powder blue...called it the Blue Nugget)
2001 Cavalier (upgraded to Golden Nugget)
2008 Sonata (leased)
2008 Elantra

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

1985 F-150
1991 Ford Tempo
1997 F-150
1999 Ranger
2003 Ranger

1995 Toyota 4-Runner (manual)
2002 Nissan X-Terra (manual)
Schwinn

2005 scion xB. It may look small from the outside, but it can hold a lot of stuff due to the wide open interior. However the 1.5L, 107 pony engine is small, no doubt about it.

Dunno how to drive stick (wait for it): too much city driving anyway, so not worth it to learn.

89 was gray (and painted/named by the time I got it anyway) "Deadmobile"
90 was sky blue, named the Blue Torpedo (c) "The Stoned Age"

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

1991 Geo Prizm (3 sp auto)
1996 Jeep Cherokee (5 sp manual)
??? (Jeep has over 200k - looks great, but road trips are getting iffier)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

We called my '91 Tempo the Red Rocket. All 96 hp and all.

My next vehicle (at least 3-4 years off) is getting a minimum of 30 MPG. :)

Friend's 90-some Taurus:

The Big Green Cli-Taurus. :D

Of course, we also referred to the Corsicas as the Inter-Corsicas. Hey, we're men. We're allowed to be juvenile. :o

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

:p

It wasn't too bad... no balls whatsoever with 100 hp and those three gears, but there wasn't too much rust, and I did get it over a century a few times.

And my 89 Corsica hit 103.

Downhill. With the wind. In Duluth-area.

But it still hit 103. :p

Actually, I could do 90 regularly, easily. Used to race against my roommate from Golden Valley to Crystal, where we lived, because we were <strike>competitive</strike> stupid. Hit 65 on Bass Lake Road in Crystal (limit is 30) one night. :o

ONNNN-TONNNAGONNNNNNN!!!

* a guess since the speedo only went to 85, but it had about 15 mph of blank space after that. I pegged it, and when I stepped off the gas, it took 5 seconds to come off the peg

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

Driving back from St Bonifacious (about 1/2 hour west of where I live), I was cranking the music, not paying attention.....and ended up at the airport (about 1/2 hour east of where I live). Totally absent-minded that night. :o And that hasn't been the only time I've done something like that. I just zone out when driving sometimes, because most of the places I go, I go there so often that it's automatic and I don't have to think about turns, etc.

How did you do that? it's not like you just missed a turn, but you'd actually have to take a wrong turn or two to do that assuming that you were on Hwy 7 back towards your place.

Hell, I could at least understand if you ended up at the old Ford plant over in St. Paul, that is at least on the same road.

Hwy 7 was under major construction at the time, so I took Hwy 5. After that? I have no idea.

Only time I ever topped the century mark was on that flat, straight section of Cliff Drive, about three miles in.
