Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

I'm ****ed off...

I'm getting off of the broken escalator where everybody's going double file up the escalator (the other side is closed off completely)... some guy comes and starts to go against the flow instead of waiting for people to clear out... i say to my self "what the hell" after getting nearly to the top just to see this guy try to come back down it... this guy... some 24ish twerp (5'9" ish and thin) says "you got a problem buddy" to which I responded "not unless you've got one"... I should have lit the twerp up verbally because he needed to be knocked back a peg. I really need to assert myself in these situations... I'm partially happy that I didn't respond meekly but I should have said something nastier. If he's willing to get angry over something like that when clearly he's doing something stupid then I should have pushed the edge verbally and then tell him to keep walking.

Good Afternoon Lodge.

Today has been crazy. Meetings, tons of work left over from when I was out last week, tons of work to do to prepare for being in training all next week...I finally feel like I am caught up, somewhat.

I read back through the conversation...Engineers are awesome, that is all.

At a Michigan hockey game the year Kevin Quick was kicked off the team after a bunch of people yelled "charge!" I responded "but don't tell Kevin Quick that!"

(he was dismissed from the team for stealing/using his roommate's credit card or so the story goes)

At the CCHA that year I sang "FREECREDITREPORT.COM!" every time they introduced Carl Hagelin. That led to some dirty looks :D

Not as awesome as business majors.
That is all.

In terms of having an undeserved sense of arrogance about what they do, engineers are second only to business majors.

About to go to a fancy pasta bar for math department colloquium dinner (http://www.broders.com/pasta-bar/menu.html). My interest in pasta doesn't go beyond Kraft Mac and Cheese (with shapes), and buttered noodles w/chicken at Noodles and Company. This will be interesting.

Granted, they're not as good as Chicago, but they both have a decent deep dish. There are some local places that have deep dish too, if you're really curious I'll try to dig some of them up.

People have already dug up some suggestions. I think my problem is I don't feel I should have to order anything special to get something other than thin-crust.

Green Mill deep dish is amazing. Takes 40 minutes though. So I always order ahead and tell them I am going to dine in.

Minnesotans do love their thin crust, which sort of befuddles me. All of our other food is heavy, why not our pizza? :o

It's pretty good, yeah. Used to prefer Davanni's, they still have the best deep dish crust in the area, but their sauce and toppings aren't as good as I remember.

Where the * is there still a Godfather's?

It looks like there's one in Minneapolis inside a convenience store. The same one I took a leak in when I was walking 5ish miles back home from downtown on Halloween evening.

For pizza, I'll take a local place in Ames called the Great Plains Sauce and Dough Company anytime. Excellent pizza. I arranged last summer's trip south so that we would stay overnight in Ames just so I could eat supper there.

Because deep dish sucks? I want pizza for the toppings and a fire-baked crust.

800 degrees for 90 seconds. That's the Neapolitan way of doing it.
