Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

Been very busy lately - which is a good thing

I am also swamped and there aren't enough days left this month to get everything accomplished. I have taken about 7 vacation days in the past couple weeks and with carrying over 40 hours to next year I still need to burn 13 days before end of the year!

What is it about soup that makes you feel better?

The deliciousness* makes you happy, happy releases endorphins, endorphins make you feel good? That can be my theory, anyway :)

*this completely depends on the type of soup. I don't recommend that Campbell's V8 stuff. If I wanted to eat nothing but pureed vegetables, I'd put the veggies in the blender myself.

It's warm and comforting (and if you're a girl, it has natural salt and sugars, which women crave more than men -- cue joke).

Yeah, that sounds about right.

N00b UVM fan alert in the BU-UVM thread. The BC guys are already in there. The thread should be unreadable very soon.

mmm. I made some awesome fire roasted tomato bisque not too long ago. Sure, it was mostly pureed vegetables, but it was darn good.

But then you can collect. Or get severance. Or both.

Did I mention that I took took my boss' boss' daughter to the BU-UNH game last week? She's a senior in high school and BU is one of her choices. I offered to take her to a game since I know some people from the university that go to games and I could introduce her. I also introduced her to Mike Eruzione.

Anyway, I was up by my desk this morning (cuz I'm temporarily relocated to my client's desk on another flooe while she's on maternity leave) and I noticed an envelope on my chair. It was a $100 gift certificate to hottie bartender's restaurant as a thank you for taking his daughter out that night. W00t!! Lemon Drops for a month!! :)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

aren't you Canadian? ;)
Good point, and I am the french kind, which is even weirder.

Hey Lodge members: Do you have an ugly holiday sweater? Do you dare show it off? How about for the chance to win cash prizes? My company is sponsoring an ugly sweater contest and if you have an ugly sweater and are willing to post a picture of you in it, you can win! Check it out at http://uglysweatercontest.com/
Funny I was thinking just the other day how I dont have an ugly holiday sweater.

Probably a good thing it isn't an ugly Speedo contest!
YIKES!

Is it better for me to just address each requirement in my cover letter and state how I partially meet it, or the one I don't meet explain I can learn quickly?

One good thing is, a manager from my current company now works at this company and I know she had a high opinion of me when she worked here, so I may be able to get a good recommendation.
I think you talk about the requirements that you meet and then talk about what you bring to the job. If you get an interview be ready to clarify and talk about the parts of the job description that you are short on and how you plan to make up for it.

You never know, the job that I just went and interviewed for, if I had got it, I would of been a considerable salary bump, (then again that is easy since i am paid in peanuts), but I was a finalist with two men with considerable more experience than me. And in the end they are writting a position for me because they still want to get me into the company. So you never know. If they like you at the interview and they cant hire you for that particular postion they will find a place to put you in there. And having a reference inside definatly helps too.

I don't really believe in Quebec... the mere thought frightens me.
Quebec is awesome!!! Booo to you!

I got called in an hour ago for a random drug test again. It was only three weeks ago (11/9), the last time I was called. I wonder if they know something that I don't know. ;)
I remeber there was one time I was pulled threee months in a row. I was like seriously how out of pool of 200 do i get pulled that often!!! Good thing I dont do drugs (still stinks when you walk in in the morning and they tell you need to do a wizz quiz, i was about to go drive a bus, of course i am empty!)

 I did tell you about the first time I met Mike Eruzione, didn't I? :o

and Awesome! Woo!
Seconded. He's doubly an arsehole because it's your birthday.
Indeed, though we don't acknowledge birthdays here unless it's a lawyer. *shrug* Just trying to keep my head up until "Notice Day".

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

In other news, my dad is getting admitted for emergency surgery!!! Hooray!! (sarcastic hooray)

He should be fine, but its been a tough year, I like to worry and he is a parapalegic which just adds all sorts of fun to any sort of medical procedure and I am not sure which hospital he is at (some VA either JP or West Roxbury of course no place close like Brockton).

I am ready for 2010, i have been ready since like may.
