Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

Found a job posting online that I think I'd be awesome at. I meet 2 out of the 6 listed requirements. Another 3 I meet partially (5 yrs experience, not 7. Passed my Six Sigma class and have applied topics, but never bothered with certification. Not really in a manager role, but have managed a few people). The other requirement I don't meet at all......but I learn quickly.

I'll apply to the job...what's the worst that can happen, I get a FOAD letter, or no response at all?

Is it better for me to just address each requirement in my cover letter and state how I partially meet it, or the one I don't meet explain I can learn quickly?

One good thing is, a manager from my current company now works at this company and I know she had a high opinion of me when she worked here, so I may be able to get a good recommendation.

I say apply. It couldn't hurt. In the cover letter talk about the requirements you do meet (even partially). Talk about what you would bring to the role and how you would be an asset to the company (that's where I would mention that you're a quick learner and always looking to acquire new skills).

hell, I would guess...
Doesn't she know that Hell is For Children?
(it's my birthday and I can quote Pat Benatar if I want to!)

You've never been to Wisconsin?

Morning Lodge.

I really effed up this AM. Had a skating class at 6:15 at a rink (Breck) that's between my house and office. Got there in time, had a good lesson and left. Realized how freakin hungry I was, backtracked a little to hit a McD, hit traffic I didn't expect. Got to the office, shower room was locked, went up two flights to find the master key at reception desk, went back down and got ready to shower. Was about to step in and realized I had towel underwear, shampoo - no clothes to change into (they're still hanging in my closet at home all ready like last night). Ended up driving home to shower and dress and get to work about 1-1/2 hour late. :o

Six Sigma is just TQM with a new name and some tweaks. What I need to do is figure out a new spin for it, and a catchy name. Get a couple of companies (or one big name company) to sucessfully implement my duplicate of what already exists and then make millions of dollars off of the fad I create.

Then I will be able to buy a pet rock.

Besides, you've already been to the UP willingly. :p

Will it involve drinking?

I got called in an hour ago for a random drug test again. It was only three weeks ago (11/9), the last time I was called. I wonder if they know something that I don't know. ;)

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 91: It's Blizzard Season... isn't it?

We brought home a gorgeous, fragrant, eight-foot tall, Fraser pine yesterday afternoon and spent several hours decorating it and our home for the Christmas season. We still have a few odds and ends to hang to have our home fully "dressed" for Christmas, but the majority of the work was done yesterday. All the lights on the tree are cooperating nicely just now. Stockings have been hung by the chimney with care. Now we're waiting for Saint Nick's arrival. I have a feeling a stocking stuffer or two may show up before the end of the week. Ho! Ho! Ho!;)

You should do it. Can I get in on this at the ground-floor level? Corporate types eat up the new fad for quality improvment stuff.

Christmas time makes me very ornery.
I'd wish it was December 26th, but I don't want to miss the battle for WCHA 9th place in Houghton on December 11th and 12th.

RE: rep - nope, it doesn't look much like Christmas just yet, unless it's Christmas in Kentucky. There's been hardly any snow in 763ville just yet.

BPH, Same thing here in Denver. On Thanksgiving Day the temp hit 73 degrees on our way down to where we gathered for our holiday meal. The forecast is calling for light snow on Wednesday. My wife and I will be in Denver this coming weekend, but in Breck and Vail the weekend after that for some skiing. We've also saved some vacation time for the stretch from just before Christmas to just before NYD. We usually spend Christmas in the mountains so, quite literally, we have a White Christmas. I hope yours turns out that way as well.

They are wondering if you're planning to join team Radioshack at next years Tour de France.

We get randomed at school as per the USCG, and I've only been hit once in 2.5 years. Not that it would matter, as I've been a lifelong non-user (never even tried anything, not worth it), but I'm a bit surprised I haven't been the lucky winner a couple more times.
