Just got a note from Mrs. Shot. She's having quite the day. Her boss has given her on "off day" tomorrow. Since she wasn't scheduled to work next Monday she'll now have six consecutive days off once her workday ends. Her boss also told her she's getting a $$$izable Christmas bonu$$$.
Hmmmm....A six day weekend. A big Christmas bonus. Now that's what I call getting into the holiday spirit.
Advice needed from Lodge folk:
bf and I are carpooling down to the East Coast. Driving tomorrow after work, staying at my parent's wed night (thurs morning really) and then he is going on to Delaware. I had thought he was going to drive, but just yesterday he said his dad is willing to pick him up in Maryland. I'm not sure if I'm ready to meet his dad (even though he'll be meeting my parents), and I doubt I'm ready for our parents to meet each other. But having my own car available to me over the weekend sounds nice.
what should I do? make him drive his car or take my car?

My Thanksgiving plans (to bring up yesterday's topic) involve going home to Maryland. It will be me, my parents, my brother, his wife, their 2 baby girls (5 months old) and I think the sister-in-law's grandma. Small gathering but it should be enjoyable. I just saw the extended family yesterday...and they will probably have 20 or so people for Thanksgiving dinner at Grandpa's in Grand Rapids (which I probably attend every other year).

Jon, Hokydad is a treasure to the boards. I read his whole new exchange and do not ever scare him off the board, he's incredible.
The Bizarre Foods where he goes to The State Fair is on...
This might actually be good, because it doesn't have the formality of a usual first meeting. Your bf has to meet the parents in an extended family/holiday situation. You saying, "Nice to meet you, bf's dad, thanks for helping us out with the transportation situation," seems pretty painless by comparison. Keep it friendly, keep it simple, don't inject any drama that doesn't need to be there.Advice needed from Lodge folk:
