Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

FWIW ring research should be done. Before I bought the rock for Mrs. g I spent quite a bit of time learning the 4 c's of diamonds. Also I spent time researching certain "tactics" some jewelers will use to make the diamonds appear better than they actually are. I am glad I did the research as I was really amazed at how often "reputable" jewelers pulled some crap. If they pulled anything sneaky I would take out my list of jewelers (in front of the salesperson) and scratch them off the list and exit the store.
I am planning to never need to do this.:p

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

Luckily, I don't really want diamonds. :p

(Garnet because red is my favorite color)

Go to Prague to get it. Seriously. There are rows of stores with thousands of garnets in all types of jewelry.

For our 5th anniversary, I bought my wife a 4.5 carat garnet set in a platinum ring in Prague for about 1/5th of what we ever saw listed over here. Proximity to mines and all.

(taking notes as I also prefer platinum).

gmann@your rep.:
Not going deer hunting this year. I haven't for about 7-8 years now. I'm going to my aunts farm in Brook Park, Mn to pick up a 1/4 beef. I will be filling the freezer, just not with venison :p

Nicely played.

You hate the little blue box? Someone is lucky.

I can't stand the little blue box. Their jewelry is VERY overpriced and generic. Any benefit that they offer (discounted cleaning, etc) can be done at most reputable jewelers. Plus, their sales reps (at least the few that I've dealt with) are jerks.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

BTW, I recently had a neg rep sent my way but The Monster got the empty netter before I even noticed. Just in case anyone is still keeping score. ;)
:D

Pre-emptive strike here:

Ralph is now 3 away. After he gets to 100K, anyone not named Ralph who deletes a thread that takes him back under 100K gets nuked.
Agree, the one that deleted those threads needs to be dragged out of their warm beds in the middle of the night and be given a lombodomy with a cordless drill.

there's an engagement ring sitting 4 feet away from me...

GLM said I'm a giant vag if I don't, so I'm taking his advice instead. ;)
Yeah, too late not to chicken out. Better be smooth with it, and get lucky tonight. ;)

*thumbs up*

nice!
Wait, you like Pearl Necklesses?? Are you sure you want to say that with this crowd here?? ;)

I picked up a 1/2 beef a month or so ago. Like I mentioned in my rep I miss the stuff that happens at deer camp especially once the sun goes down. However, I am not a fan of venison. Beef. It's what's for dinner. :)

I'm a big fan of venison. We used to lease land for the 4B (four day) season. That was outside Erskine, MN.We met a guy at the gas station, and after chatting a bit, he said he had some land we could hunt. His deal was $50/gun to hunt his land, and he got to hang out with us after dark and recap our day. He was 86 yo when we started hunting there. He was mostly blind, but could see a bit. When he passed away, we drove up to attend his funeral, since he was a good buddy. His SIL came over to us and said we could still hunt his land, but now it was $250/gun, and we had to hunt the 4A season which was only two days. We told him to go pi55 up a rope. Haven't been since. Hunting the state land, although plentiful, is scary as hell. Too many idiots out there.

My grandparents own land in in Lengby. It is a big chunk of land and nobody hunts on it. The family sold a couple acres to a game warden about ten years ago and he has since built his home on that property. The locals would give their first born to be able to hunt on it. The game warden knows this and does a good job enforcing its borders. ;)
