Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

So what you're saying is: we should bring tLodge to your Facebook account.

I have spent maybe 10 minutes on Facebook since I created an account 6 months ago. Go for it. :) I just don't have time to manage it. Besides I really don't care if Sally is currently picking her nose or Frank is doing jumping jacks. The part of Facebook I find neat is coming across a name that you have not thought about in a very very long time. If ASaag has a FB account I am sure he is freinds with Brontosaurus or Saltasaurus. :p :D

Question for tLodge:

If great minds think alike, what do stupid minds do?

Just about hurled when an e-mail from one of the managers here said, "great minds...." since she and her idiot employee both decided to ask the same person for information.
Almost all the people here that work with her idiot employee all think he's stupid/useless and we are all trying to figure out why she (his boss) likes him.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

Regarding Thanksgiving/traditions/family crap...

Ever since I can remember we have always had Thanksgiving with the entire family, usually at the grandparent's house, and occasionally at my parent's or my aunt's. We have a fairly small family, Grandpa, Grandma, my parents, me and my sister, aunt, uncle and 3 cousins. So we didn't have so many people that it got to be too much. After my grandma passed away and about 5 years later my grandpa got remarried, my step-grandma's kids would sometimes come, but I think they must usually have other plans.

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

I'm clearly the key to the Vikings success this season. The only regular season game I've missed this season was the game at Pittsburgh. So the Vikings are 7-0 in games I've been at and 0-1 when I'm not. Obviously if the Vikings want to win they better make it worth my while to travel to all their games. A private jet with hot female flight attentants would be a good start.

This may surprise the Lodge but seeing the Vikings win at Lambeau probably wasn't the hightlight of my weekend. I really enjoyed playing with a certain little girl. She likes having me as her personal horse. Kids are so much fun.

What's going on? I've definitely changed. Having kids use to be something I never really thought about. Hopefully it's not too late and I can find the right woman.

No such luck.

When our kids were young we started/changed our tradition, best thing we ever did.

BTW, I bought two tickets for the MN-IL game Saturday (IL returned some of their allotment) and I noticed MN was also selling tix for one of the MN-BSU games.

I think it is important for the little g's to wake up Christmas morning in their own beds and race downstairs to see what Santa left them.

I am still undecided if I am going to make it to one or both or none of the BSU versus u of m games.........

Re: Rep Retirement Lodge 88: What's in your stash?

Difficult, but perhaps explain that with financial constraints, it's just not possible for you to make 40 hours worth of driving in the span of 4 weeks (I assume that's 10 hours there and 10 hours back). It's hard to hear, but maybe when the large scale of time, gas, wear/tear on the car, is spelled out, it might be easier? Plus with traffic, who knows how much longer the trip would take?

This is only the second time ever that I won't be spending Thanksgiving at home with my family, but they seem to be understanding (so far)

Tried that approach - they offered to give us gas money when we got there. So now I'm a jerk who doesn't want to see his family for thanksgiving and I'm a deadbeat :D

Exactly why we changed.
Now that they're 13 & 16 we have to wake them up and drag their kiesters downstairs. :)

Hmm...I would go with the making a new tradition thing. Didn't you and the wife get married between this Thanksgiving and last Thanksgiving? Nicely, let the folks know that now that you're married, things are going to change a little and that this is one of them. :o

You have go to the game on Saturday with the little gs so I can meet them and I guess you too. :D :)

I may have to miss the Friday game because of work. The Saturday game is a 6 start so let the little guys stay up to watch the Gophers put up double digits on the Beavers and meet the world famous CHA (which is something they will be bragging about for the rest of their lifes). :p :)

Say that you'll go to the Thanksgiving thing, then the day before/morning of (whenever you're supposed to be driving) call them and say that your transmission when out when you were about 20 miles away from your house, so you won't be able to make it.

As I've always said, "Great minds think alike... and so do ours." :o

I could arrange for that to happen, just in case they ask for photographic proof. :D

When my grandparents were alive, we'd often go see one set on Christmas eve, then drive all the way across southern MN to see the other. That did vary though, and there wasn't as much pull to Always Be Home For Christmas since my family wasn't back in MN until fourteen years after my parents' marriage.

Since then, our house tends to be the Thanksgiving/Christmas/Easter meeting place for my nuclear family, usually an uncle, and sometimes an aunt - my gf is showing up for this Thanksgiving too. We did go to visit my sister, BIL and their kids last year though, but it sounds like they'll be up this Christmas.

There isn't a Friday game. It's a Saturday/Sunday series.

I will let you know when I decide.

You are correct. I looked at the schedule incorrectly. I should be able to make both games then. What kind of father would you be if you kept the little gs from meeting me? How could you deny them the great honor of meeting me?

Worst Father Ever
Worst Father Ever

;) :p

Actually, I thought he was talking about tapping Ella Fitzgerald.

That reminds me of a verse from a song:

"I dig her up every now and then yo ho, yo ho
I dig her up every now and then yo ho, yo ho
I dig her up every now and then,
I *ed her once, I'll * her again
Get in, get out, quit *in about
yo ho yo ho yo ho"

at least I think those are the words.

I think the main reason that we always all end up doing holidays together is because the family has always stayed very close to home, likely due to the farm. When my dad married my mom and moved out, they moved to a house about 2 miles from my grandparent's place. My aunt moved about 10 miles away after she got married. I am the furthest away of our family (excluding sister and cousins in college), and I live a little over an hour away.

On another note, my mom has began asking about what I'm going to do after my dad retires from farming. My dad won't ask, because I think he's scared to hear that I don't want to farm. So it has already started, and I'll have to deal with this question for the next 12-15 years....:(
